Cognac Tesseron

Pym Rae

Tesseron Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2016

1st time trying this. Incredibly elegant. Maybe too elegant, at this stage. All rough edges have smoothed out, but hasn’t yet rounded into its older age. Maybe caught this in an in between stage. For the price, it’s up against some very stiff competition. Excited to try again. — 2 months ago

As nice as the Pym-Rae stuff is, would rather drink the ownership family’s red BDX stuff: Château Pontet-Canet (Pauillac) and Château Lafon-Rochet (St. Estèphe). Former is pretty cutting edge stuff and the latter totally underrated, classic and reasonably priced.

Don’t drink a ton of spirits, but I do sample them when the occasion arises. This was pretty good, very balanced and of course smoothish.

Château d'Orignac

Delicious, amber colour. Quite sweet with apricot and dried fruit flavours. Fortified with Brandy rather than pure spirit. It was delicious and popular with the cheese course at my 60th birthday meal in the Captain's House in Lydd. — 4 months ago
