A solid Chianti Classico to go with a mess of broccoli rabe and homemade salchicia with pasta. Comfort! Not the most complex, but loads of dark, sour cherry fruit, a balsamic note, and a bit of crushed gravel. Good intensity and balance in the mouth. Not the lengthiest but satisfying!
UPDATED: After two nights under a vacuum closure, it’s much deeper and more complete. Upping initial 8.9 score to 9.1, on the condition that, if drunk before 2027, it needs to be opened for a while before it struts its stuff. — a year ago

Fairly full bodied for a rosé blend, smooth, anisette on the finish. — a year ago

Started as a basic Rhone but really opened up into something a little richer over time. Very good. Mostly dry with just a hint of jammy sweetness. — 8 years ago
Just a little hotel room wine — 8 years ago
The description: A brilliant Rosé for food pairing. The nuances of red berry, lemograss, yellow stone fruit with a little bit of oak are noticeable on the nose. On the palate, the wine is dry with a fresh and fruity attack. Pretty gourmet finish that calls for a sunny and delicate cuisine.

Cherry and leather nose. Mid range palate , smooth at first, not heavy, really opens and shines with a Sunday gravy meat sauce.
Evidently, Catignano is a specific, higher elevation plane, and or in this case, an organic offering from Dievole. They sure do put out quite a bit.
As the wine opens w protein and acids, it’s rather tannic and juicy in the inner mouth. A surprise of quality from a large scale producer. It’s nice leathery, cherry, mineral Sangiovese perfect for tomato based pasta dishes.

Pale garnet in color, this wine presents pronounced aromas of macerated cherries, with subtle hints of menthol and dry earth. I did not notice any floral notes.
On the palate, the wine confirms the nose, displaying medium-plus tannins and medium acidity, with a medium finish.
I believe this wine could benefit from a couple more years of aging in the cellar, although I really enjoyed it. I look forward to trying it again in 2027 or 2028. — a year ago
Medium ruby color.
Aromas of red delicious, red cherry, raspberry.

Nice crisp menthol notes with round plum and savoury spice. On lockdown with Racquel — 6 years ago
2015 is surprisingly restrained and muted in the early going, really taking a while to show aromatic presence. Delicate rose bouquet, faint layers of tobacco, spice and decaying autumn leaves in the background. But on the palate it is showing the texture of pure silk, with seamless structure and impossibly smooth contours. Gentle tannic grip and very deceptive concentration. Needs bottle time for flavor development, but already a pleasure to drink for its purity, finesse and elegance. — 8 years ago
2021 vintage. Last tasted 3.19.25 (9.2). Decanted and tasted after one hour. Was medium-medium heavy body but gained some weight in the last year. Now medium heavy. Smoky nose. Velveteen fruit. Nice spice complexities on the delish finish. Pre-tariff resto cost was $19.90 a bottle. 70% Grenache. 15% Syrah. 15% Mourvèdre. Absolute steal. 1.30.26. — 8 months ago
2015: Rich, generous CC Gran Selezione drinking very well now. I wouldn’t mistake it for the top Brunellos but good fruit and quality viscosity set it apart from the better Riservas. Touches of tar and leather give it a good dose of complexity. $45? At WL. — 3 years ago

What a great tasting wine. The body of this wine is not heavy but tastes like a full body wine. — 8 years ago

The description: This bright, sunny, light-to-medium-bodied, salmon-coloured beauty is an elegantly crisp, refreshing, well-balanced, and deliciously dry Côtes de Provence Rosé. This Cru Classé is made mainly from the local Provençal grape variety Tibouren, together with some Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Mourvèdre.
The opinion: very good but through it might have more depth for the price. — 2 months ago
