Popped n poured, I was initially underwhelmed, but this is growing on me as it airs. The medium intensity nose is showing some ripe dark cherry fruit, a bit of spice, and gravel. Very soft in the mouth. Maybe a bit too “agreeable.” It’s got decent intensity, but only mild acids and minerality, which I usually prize in annatas. Good but not excellent.

Cherry and leather nose. Mid range palate , smooth at first, not heavy, really opens and shines with a Sunday gravy meat sauce.
Evidently, Catignano is a specific, higher elevation plane, and or in this case, an organic offering from Dievole. They sure do put out quite a bit.
As the wine opens w protein and acids, it’s rather tannic and juicy in the inner mouth. A surprise of quality from a large scale producer. It’s nice leathery, cherry, mineral Sangiovese perfect for tomato based pasta dishes.
Thanks @garagiste .
