Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1990

Tour d’Argent. Tawny, heavy color in the glass. The Somm smiles. I smile. The room smiles. This is killer juice that opens with a fragrant bouquet of ripe bing cherries, earthly spice, some sois bois, and some Asian spice. I’ve had this wine probably 10+ times and this is easily the best of them. Silky smooth. The nose is sexual. Killer juice. Worth the price. — 5 years ago

How does Notre Dame look from there? Wine list still good or picked over? Have fun.

In Feb there was scaffolding covering the rear. Now there is more scaffolding, some signs of the fire and no spire of course. Sad.

The list is still a monster. Old stuff is picked through but it’s all relative because mid 90s is now “old stuff”. If you know what to look for there are good options. Ps the food is significantly improved at TdA. Even better this time vs Feb. Worth a look again.

This was such a pleasant surprise. So pure and authentic. Incredibly drinkable for such a young wine but seems like it has the legs to last. We crushed this wine in no time with lamb — a year ago

@Tom Casagrande I’m with you. I remember especially the wines from domaine du mas blanc really fondly but I don’t believe they are imported anymore

On the burgundy by bike tour. Excellent typical Pinot noir of the area. Great with the beef Bourgogne for lunch — 6 years ago

Les Canadells Collioure 2018

Unassuming. Strict, quiet, barely there aromas of gunpowder, white flowers, blanched almonds. The pale hay colors suggest this is light and easy. It’s not.

It’s 14.5% - fatty oily, type A introvert of a wine.

Slightly hot, we get yellow peach, jasmine, almond. Drink this at cellar temp and drink slow, as she charges quick.
