This is unbelievable qpr. Tastes like bandol without the price. A wonderful gamey quality with balanced fruit. — 4 years ago

Domaine Ponsot

Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1990

Tour d’Argent. Tawny, heavy color in the glass. The Somm smiles. I smile. The room smiles. This is killer juice that opens with a fragrant bouquet of ripe bing cherries, earthly spice, some sois bois, and some Asian spice. I’ve had this wine probably 10+ times and this is easily the best of them. Silky smooth. The nose is sexual. Killer juice. Worth the price. — 2 years ago

How does Notre Dame look from there? Wine list still good or picked over? Have fun.

In Feb there was scaffolding covering the rear. Now there is more scaffolding, some signs of the fire and no spire of course. Sad.

The list is still a monster. Old stuff is picked through but it’s all relative because mid 90s is now “old stuff”. If you know what to look for there are good options. Ps the food is significantly improved at TdA. Even better this time vs Feb. Worth a look again.

Domaine La Tour Vieille

Puig Ambeille Collioure 2015

From the same appellation boundaries as Banyuls, this Collioure wine is a stunner. While a bit reductive when first uncorked - it’s stoic, structured and remarkably complex - a pillar of inky anise, leather, cayenne, rosemary flavor. Spice and garrigue meet blackberry liqueur on the lengthy finish. It’s the classic combination of rusticity and elegance that southern France does so well. 80% Mourvèdre, 10% Grenache, 10% Carignan. — 3 years ago
