One of those wines where I have no idea when/how/where I acquired it. Didn’t know what to expect, so I opened this with dinner.
Dark red-purple in the glass. For being Walla Walla, this seemed balanced as expected with zero traces of funk. I wouldn’t say there is a total sense of place for this wine but it is varietally correct in style. Spiced plum and charcoal aromatically, as well as dark floral notes. On the palate, it is filled with dark roasted mocha and high percentage dark cocoa. Finish shows a dark red (black cherry) and black fruit (blackberries, black currant) dominated profile. I consumed this from bottle over the course of an evening and it showed well…a splash decant wouldn’t hurt, but this is mostly in a drink-now/over the next 3-5yrs phase with regards to structure. — 4 years ago

Gorgeous wine and so classic in 21. Nose is granitic and dusty with some lovely red currant and licorice. Gamey, meaty and so deep. Really terrific aromas. Smells like Cote Rotie and it is within spitting distance. Palate is very 21. Mostly red fruits with some minor black ones and a classic, grippy almost Cru Bourgeois type structure. Juicy and serious for such a humble price. Pre tariff we were $19.99 a case. Very 21 and very lean. Big tannins and actually needs maybe 3-5 years of age. After 5 hours this is soft and lush and has gone from 9.0 to 9.1. Really came together. — 3 months ago
