There is a slight misalignment between the fruit and phenolic ripeness, also a mismatch between the oak and the terroir, but it is still an authentic, genuine Langhe Nebbiolo. Wide range of aromatic nuances and dynamic expression with authority. Less polished than Roagna and less subtle than Cascina delle Rose but those three are of similar mold. A relaxed style of winemaking that is complete opposite of producers like Albino Rocca, Bruno Rocca and Sottimano who have a perfectionist approach, — 8 years ago

Tasted this Barbera Superiore made from three different generations at this small family producer in Castaglione delle Lanze just outside the Barolo DO. Speaking with the current wine maker science and precision regarding harvest, maceration and fermentation time are to blame for the recent elevation in quality.
