Opened and decanted an hour before tasting. Cedar, toasty oak, brown spices, damp earth, pinches of milk chocolate, coffee and pruney fruit. Still fairly tannic too. Does this wine have sufficient fruit and freshness for the long haul…?
Now, its good, not great.

This was quite good, both with food and just to drink by itself. Would get again. — 13 days ago
Médium ruby , medium ruby pink rim . Needs time to open up , with spiced red cherry , cut herbs , violets , slightly toasty hints . On the palate very intense red fruits , high acidity and quite gritty tannin . Quite raw and young this , really needs time . Quite saline and mineral on the long , quite lean finish , menthol tinged finish . Needs 5-10 years really will last a further 10 . Very promising . — a month ago
It’s still too young for me but I wanted to pull one. Medium nose where I get a bit of green-ness. The finish is light and there is a bit of green on the palate as well. Hoping the rest get better with age. — 11 days ago

Rare sighting. Lucky to drink them side by side. Both a bit young and powerful with so much aging potential. Massetino is mostly Merlot with some Cab Franc. Masseto is all Merlot. Distinctly different though. Massetino being the more robust and Masseto being the more elegant. Then again. So much potential. — 19 days ago
