Oodles of Coonawarra mint on the nose. The medium bodied palate shows blackberry, dark chocolate, and that same mint. Fucking burgundy!!!! Pretty much that’s the note.

Nose has earth, precise cherries. Just ... perfect fucking burgundy.

Palate. Precise cherries. A hint of cherry licorice. So fresh and balanced. So grippy. Great texture. Almost a hint of grapefruit pith to round it out. So well made. Just lasers the palate with fresh cherry juice. ... fucking burgundy!

As it opens you get some of that elegant richness that you want. Finish is gorgeous cherries. Cherry licorice. Almost a hint of chocolate covered cherries. So fucking good.

This is exactly what you want. Not an iota more. Not an iota less.

Like I said ... fucking burgundy! So awesome and classic.

And yes this needs another 5 years. Sue me.

Always going to be the highlight of the Wynns tasting and only made in years where the fruit quality and vintage conditions were exceptional. Sue Hodder said everything fell into place in 2015 and she made one of her best ever Riddochs. From less than 1% of Wynns available Cabernet fruit. Latent power on nose and palate with black fruits and balanced oak. At least a 30 year future but so balanced you could happily drink this now but one should wait at least 10 years for its charms to start showing through. A brilliant 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. — 8 years ago

Very pale lemon in colour. Tasted after the Premier Cru Hubert Lamy and similar in many ways - the texture, the acid, the citrus the subdued oak influence, but not as much minerality or salinity. Made by Sue Bell at her Bellwether winery in Coonawarra from Chardonnay grapes from the Tamar River in Tasmania. A good wine in the leaner style - showing the quality of Tasmanian Chardonnay. Consistent notes 88 weeks later on 9th December 2020. Chablisesque. Grapefruit notes. Still bracing acidity. — 7 years ago

Our first wine from the Wynns dinner with chief Wine maker Sue Hodder. This is a very approachable young yet soft Riesling aimed at early consumption. A fuller fruity palate with light acid. I could happily drink this now. Short term cellaring. — 8 years ago

I tried a pop and pour but it did need decanting - the nose was muted. Medium to full bodied - spicy and earthy with a touch of liquorice. Partial whole bunch in the ferment, basket pressed, indigenous yeasts, French Oak. Made by the talented Sue Bell with fruit from Wrattonbully, just to the north of Coonawarra. See previous note of 109 weeks ago when we did vintage at Bellwether. — 3 years ago
