Not sure what variety or varieties make this up, but it’s got a lot of character and is quite nice. Pours dark and sultry with a little age showing at the rim. Nose is earthy, with a teensy bit of barnyard, loads of rocky gravel notes, bright dark cherry (with a tart berry edge), and a little spice. Fairly concentrated and intense in the mouth. Almost reminds me of an Aglianico di Vulture with a bit of bottle age because of the rustic dark cherry fruit and rustic (but not overbearing) tannins. Some crushed rock notes too. Nice balance. Finish is lengthy, dark, and rich.
UPDATE: I looked it up and Bovale is an indigenous Sardinian varietal. Never heard of it before. — 10 months ago
Delicious and versatile red. Perfect with mushroom pasta, but light enough to drink alone. Picked this up at Eataly, where it was advertised as a staff pick. Let’s just say the staff has great taste!! — 3 years ago
Warm and rich. Very interesting. Fruit notes, but not too sweet — a month ago
Nicely made and exuding character. Nose has bright, deep plummy fruit, along with nice, fragrant spice and a wisp of smoke. Mouthfilling, pure fruit on the palate, with a light touch, finish turns savory and shows lots of stony minerality. Nice acids and a bit of soft, chalky tannin comes out at the end. Terrific value. — 2 years ago
Bitter middle at first, but give it some time to breathe and it will relax. Amazing fragrance. Really great, dark, super unique — a year ago
This Bobal kind of reminds me of a big, muscular left bank Bordeaux. Saturated color. Nose has lots of graphite, cassis, elderberry, and dried twigs and leaves. Dense, but in a lean and muscular way that avoids any jamminess. Dark cassis and crushed rock are the main components. Bone dry and with very good acids. Tannins are present but reasonably soft. Will be better in a couple of years but nice now too. — a year ago

Dark. Deep, earthy, terroir. Dark, dark fruit but it's not driving the bus. — 2 months ago
