2019 vintage. Opened and decanted. Tasted after 15 minutes and one hour. Medium body. Sleek and silky intro and mid-palate funneling much of the concentration and carnival into the back-end impressions. Picked up the various chocolates, earth. tobacco and cedar notes just before graduation. Obviously much much too premature but showing serious promise and composure after the first recital. 5.22.26. — 2 months ago
C'est du haut niveau sur du fruit mur. La mûre, les notes viandées, le sous bois, une bouche tapissante, une longueur folle.
Un tout petit excès d'alcool à peine domageable. — 9 months ago
Beautiful enticing aromatics with some dark fruit (more red than black), a bit of kirsch, wet earth, leather, tobacco leaf and a exotic spice box. Evolved yet surprisingly fresh!
Quite light on the palate yet with a lot of character & presence, aetheric and airy yet with power & precision. Brilliant energy & elegance with lively acidity and mellowed, ultra fine tannins.
This is a meditation wine - I could sit with a glass of this the whole evening!

A very limited production Ribera del Duero of 6,990 bottles in a great year @ €180-€265 that should age into a Vega Sicilia quality wine as a very intense big wine 😈 but well balanced 😉 I’d drink in 10-15 years but superb already 😁

🍷 Deep blackened opaque ruby
👃 I had to peel these aromas from my nose as they overpowered it in chocolatey rich dark fruit goo in a porty style of spiced dark cherry, earthy dark plum, melted chocolate, herbs & smoke w/ raspberry liquorice, minerals, date compote, prune pie & soft oak
👄 Full bodied rich ripe smooth ultra silky gooey creamy melted black cherry & chocolate w/ raspberry, liquorice & cherry liqueur
🎯 Long Long Long (like never ending!) lingering dark cherry explosive punch in the teeth oozing through raspberry chocolate liquorice gloop

Mariano’s Garcias crown jewel, he was the front man at Vega Sicilia for three decades. He then founded Aalto with the vision of creating the highest quality RdD which you didn’t have to wait fifteen years to enjoy. Many think he’s done it! I pretty much agree. — 7 months ago
Excelente, vendimia tardía sin botrytis. Un dulce que no empalaga perfecto para un buen foie. Un Vega Sicilia Húngaro!!!!! — 5 years ago
Produced by the Mauro winery in Castilla-León, a project of Mariano García, a winemaker known for being technical manager of Vega Sicilia for 30 years. A blend of Tempranillo with 5% Syrah and aged for 16 months in French oak. Ripe Berry fruits, powerful yet elegant, with spice & smoky notes on full, very tight, tannins. Lingering finish, nice mouthfeel, ending with mineral earthy tones, a joy to Sip!! Tasting great, has much more aging potential. Very Nice! — 7 years ago
This 6 year old Tondonia Blanco bottled in the early 70s is absolutely stunning. Better than any of the vintages I’ve had. I know traditionally some Spanish producers put a lot of effort into their NV blends (think Vega Sicilia for example) but this was still far better than expected. Glad I’ve got 11 bottles left. It’s complex as hell and has serious acidity but it’s the length that really stands out. It. Never. Ends. — 8 years ago
Sourcing their fruit from Hossfeld Vineyards which suffered substantial losses in the fire of 2017, this high altitude 2/3 tempranillo 1/3 Cabernet from Parador is very unique and went perfectly with smoked paprika pulled pork sandwiches! This wine poured a dark crimson with purple edges. Nose of smoky blackberry and sweet fruit opulence. Palate is brambly and reminiscent of a young Vega Sicilia which is leathery, smoky, Blackberry and drunken black cherry-rich. Middle has a fair amount of earthy, soil driven tar and ashy loam. Finishes with good acidity which danced well with the pork and stood alone quite well. A baby, but very curious about this wine. Well made and hope to acquire future vintages! — 7 years ago
