Wine Club gathering with 1 white and 3 reds, all tasted blind.
This was from a recent trip to Napa that our friends just got back from. They had nothing but good things to say about their experience at Farella so they wanted to share one of their purchases with us upon their return; I’m glad they did because this was delicious. I had “red blend” on the forefront of my mind when guessing what this was but I ended up guessing Cab, instead. I’m still kicking myself over that. This is a solid blend with loads of character. — 8 days ago
The waiter actually tried to talk me out of this one, I think he wanted me to go for a more “known” producer. But I know what I want, and I don’t tend to go for big names just because. And I am not disappointed with my choice! Aromas and flavors of black pepper, sour cherry, current, cranberry, and smoke. A floral note of hibiscus lingering in the background. Acidity is medium + and tannins are smooth and elegant. Paired with semi-cured Manchego cheese, quince paste, and oxtail stew. — 10 days ago

A great value £20-£25 Priorat that’s a bit of a liquorice beasty 😈 The fruit is full on but if you want that style it’s nicely made 😉 not really my style but judging it fairly 😁

Not too sweet, fruity, good with seafood — 11 days ago
Tannic with grilled spice, dark fruits of plum and blackberry, smoke and cured meat. A joy to drink. Hard to imagine Malbec more enjoyable or well done at this price. — 3 days ago
This is one of the Richer, Full bodied Rioja Reserva’s I have had. The color is a dark, inky purple.
It has strong notes of cherry on the nose that surprisingly do not reappear until a smooth long finish.
What first hits the palate is more earthy notes, like Forrest Floor, reminiscent of a cold climate Pinot, with lots of Oak.
The black cherries come rushing in once again and give you a warm feel as it finishes.
Obviously, Paired well with Manchego Cheese but surprisingly with a dish that highlighted mushrooms, Kale and Broccoli that highlighted the wines earthy undertones.
