2021 vintage. Terra Solis Vineyard, Napa Valley Coombsville AVA. I was lucky enough to meet owner Frank W. Bishop ,Jr. , who generously offered me this bottle. He sells most of his grapes ( to some very famous names) and produces a tiny quantity under the Terra Solis label. A 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Coombsville AVA, that is cooler than the Valley floor AVAs because of its proximity to San Pablo Bay, which allows a later harvest and longer hangtime for the grapes. Deep dark red. Intense perfume with black fruit, spices, and toasty oak. In the mouth is beautifully balanced with layers of black fruit, fresh acidity, and relatively moderate alcohol ( abv. 14,2%). Personally, I would have preferred oak with a lighter toast, but that is obviously a stylisic choice, and the wine is excellent indeed. — a year ago

This is a new wine by the Nicolas-Jay duo. A selective pick of Own-Rooted vines from three vineyards-Hyland, Nysa, and Bishop Creek. They isolated the pick, vinification, and barrel time. Some of the vines go back to 1972. I thought three things after tasting this wine... ”That’s some pure textured fruit in the glass”, “Man...I wonder how many cases are they going to keep for the house library”, and “Yeah, these guys know what they are doing”. — 5 years ago

Owes name to man of the cloth born in 1264, Bertrand de Goth, Bishop of Comminges, in the Pyrenees, later became Archbishop of Bordeaux in 1299. Blend, 57% Merlot, 38% Cab Sauv & 5% Petit Verdot & Cab Franc, aged in new French oak for 18 months. Pronounced youthful black fruit aromas with earthy baking spices. Blackberry & plum palate flavors with cedar & spice integrated with firm tannins, long ending, earthy oak with a mineral tang. Needs more bottle age! Tasting Sample! — 5 years ago
