Dirty & Rowdy

Evangelho Vineyard Mourvedre 2018

Juicy, lip-smacking, mouth-staining purple goodness. Impressive balance, light and lively on the lips. Ripe red/ fruit berry/cherry/ makes my mouth water. I love the lightness of this wine and the way it weaves its way to the bright finish. — 2 days ago

Horseshoe Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

Pop and pour. About 3.5 yrs since my last btl. Once again, fantastic aromatics. On the nose: clove, soft cinnamon, pomegranate, brambles, soft compelling. On the palate: density has definitely picked up.from what I remember; some grapeseed, dark blackberry, bitter wood, and transitioning seamlessly to a slightly tannic finish. I'm still not entirely happy with the showing on the mid-palate, but the aromatics are compelling enough to make me almost not care. Paired with cauliflower steaks with nutritional yeasts and liquid aminos (yes, very vegan), and an assortment of other roast vegetables, prepared in different ways. An excellent pairing (ironically, bc of the bitterness on the palate with which I was less than enamored). — 15 days ago

Is it thin mid palate?

Yeah: better than the last showing, but thinner than I would have liked.

@Aravind A that’s a drawback sometimes of very cool climate Pinot. Also an issue sometimes in Switzerland.

Cloudy Bay

Marlborough Chardonnay 2013

Pale lemon with aromas of stone fruits with wafts of blossom, spice & smoke. On the palate rich ripe apple and pear with a touch of zesty citrus fruits, crisp, with vanilla notes. Nice creamy mouthfeel, vivid acidity, medium+ finish ending with citrus mineral and floral spice character. — 6 days ago

Gimblett Gravels The Gimblett Merlot Blend 2014

Color of dark bubbly purple, looking dense. Nose of cocoa, currants, spice, sweet vanilla, a bit oak, and a bit plum. Taste of good refined tannins, tobacco leaves, blackberry, vanilla, ripe grapes, oak and cherry, smooth, silky, and mouthful. Aftertaste shows some more zesty note plus a bit metallic note. Pretty good, mellow, and everyone will enjoy her. — 13 days ago

Conservation Coast Chardonnay 2016

At first felt a little flabby and rustic. It grew on me- the pear, pineapple and mustard are so palatable. A big Chardonnay that disappeared quickly. — 5 days ago
