Sunday and it's Father's Day so to all the delectable gang fathers - have a great one

So not a mid tier and while this is good I had great plans for this baby - the vision was to bask in the boldness and beauty of this Napa usual stellar Cab but not going to sing tonight as a great opera and not going to win the beauty contest as well BUT this was the first sip without a decant

After a longer than usual decant the wine of three hours this started to open - it still needs air and think it will improve - how much is the question - I fear not much and I fear this wine is as good as it gets NOW

I can say I love deep garnet color - I get smells of black cherries mainly but some other earthy smells as well - taste is nice with big juicy black fresh cherry fruits with dark cocoa - very supple powdery tannins produces a moderate finish

So why not a higher score - I guess I expected more and lately I have had 9.5 or better and this is not that

All said it is Father's Day and we are relaxing and enjoying this baby with smiles to boot - aren't Sundays a great day!!! — 8 years ago

Very well structured Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville. Bright fruit on the nose with slight hints of oak. Great tannins to match the fruit on the palette with the slight hint of oak making an appearance on the back end. Let this decant for an hour and bask in its glory. — 7 years ago

Seems to be a little bit shorter than it should be but really delicious and refreshing. I personally enjoyed this. Just needs a delicious and carb heavy gnocchi dish to go along with it 👀
Story time: I’ve been borrowing my parent’s cars this week while they’re in Germany (thx ‘rents #carless) which also gives me access to Sirius XM and therefore the Classic Vinyl station is now dictating my life. Ergo 👑 I suggest pairing with The Eagles - specifically Hotel California so you can fittingly bask in its mellow rock vibes (no pink champagne on ice, sorry). — 7 years ago

Savennières is stealth Chenin. It is ever so much that white gravel people rake patterns in. And just as dry. Until a lemon is squeezed over and a pear and tangerine fall from the trees and a brisk wind wafts through carrying hints of the flower bushes blooming nearby. Oh damn and that raw Marcona almonds. It’s a goddamn garden party in early autumn. Bask. This Savennières looks lightweight but it’s white gold. — 7 years ago
