Te Kahu Gimblett Gravels Vineyard Merlot Blend

Mon M
8.9

Cattail creek wine dinner. Characteristics of pencil lead, tobacco, black cherry, and liquorish. The palate has a lifted acidity and spicy tannins but don't obscure the fruit expression. Paired with petite ribeye en persillade. — 9 months ago

Big Basin Vineyards

Homestead Red Rhone Blend 2019

Mostly Grenache with Mourvèdre, Carignan, and Syrah from cool sites throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains. Pure, fruit forward, and borderline jammy without being over the top. Alcohol clocks in at 13.5%. Pair with suckling pig. Organic. — 2 months ago

Aroha Te Muna Pinot Noir 2014

An excellent Martinborough Pinot Noir. Rich and luscious like an Otago Pinot but not as overt as Otago usually is. Red and Black cherry with restrained whole bunch influence. Balanced French oak. Craggy Range is based in Hawkes Bay (the winery is a great spot for lunch!) but they were smart enough to establish their Te Muna vineyard in Martinborough - a much better terroir for Pinot Noir. Bob Campbell MW nailed the brief by saying it “delivers power with consummate subtlety. “ A point or two off for a ridiculously heavy bottle. — 5 months ago

Coastview Vineyard Chardonnay 2016

Apple and pear on the nose and pallet also very minerally with a lil butter but not overdone as I hate butter bombs but a quality chardonnay here very drinkable — a year ago
