Cherries and raspberries. A good bite of tannins, overall very pleasant! — 9 months ago
Smoke and a resinous grape with dried violet and red-black roses. There is a meaty interplay evocative of Cuban sandwiches that simultaneously points at red opium. The floral expression is so seductive! Dry entry that springs from roots in a youthful bitterness, with tannins across the ceiling. Burnt, black currant and darkest toast notes, but with a springy black lime citrus-ness acing like capillaries throughout. Shroud and thundercloud. You smack your lips, and you are literally painting with tannins and charcoal, on the dental portico of your Basilicata basilica, which is dusted with volcanic ash. Spectacular! #aglianico #AglianicoDelVulture #Titolo #ElenaFucci #DOC #basilicata #tannins #volcanic #tanninbooth #Barile #italianwines #italianred — 6 years ago
Typical Cab elements, pepper, lead pencil and spice all around. Had a bottle of this about a year ago and this one is noticeably better. Will hold my other bottles and see. Visited the winery a few years ago. They offered us an excellent tasting. — 2 months ago
Merry Christmas from our family to yours! 🎄🥂
With brunch, we’re sipping a special bottle of bubbly from Champagne Hervieux-Dumez, a grower-producer located in Sacy, a Premier Cru Village in the Montagne de Reims region of Champagne.
We were fortunate to visit Hervieux-Dumez in the fall of 2021. We received a warm, welcoming tour of the property from Clément, who represents the fourth generation of this family business. We had the pleasure of tasting some incredible wines, including this one, which we brought home with us.
It's the ‘Cuvée des Rois de France’ – the ‘Cuvée of the Kings of France’ – named in recognition of Champagne’s history as the traditional site for the coronation of kings at the Basilica Notre-Dame in Reims. 👑 The village of Sacy played a special role in these events as a popular source of water.
This wine is a blend of Pinot Noir, Meunier, and Chardonnay, 50% of which came from reserve wines that aged a minimum of 60 months in the Hervieux-Dumez cellar. It is a medium lemon hue with a fine mousse and offers delicious notes of yellow apple, pear, white raspberry, lemon, blossom, wet stones, brioche, almond paste, and pie crust, with a lingering, elegant finish.
We are grateful for this beautiful experience that remains a beautiful memory. — a year ago
Good wine good balance.
Nice with basilica. — 4 years ago
I have no idea why @Delectable Wine puts “Marks & Spencer,” which I think is a British retailer, in the ID of this wine. Anyway, it’s a characterful wine. Very dark color for a Chianti Classico. It’s got an interesting nose of black cherry, a substantial tomato leaf note, leather, and rocky gravel. Rather energetic in the mouth, with deep, dark cherry, that turns savory and minerally very quickly. A bit more soft tannin than many annatas, and zesty acids. Lot of bang for the buck here. — 5 months ago
Basilica Caffaggio is one of the more famous producers located in the Western Sector of Chianti Classico’s Panzano UGA; specifically the middle elevation band of San Martino in Cecione (approx. 300m elevation). The geology is largely shale.
Popped and poured. The 2018 Caffaggio Chianti Classico pours a bright ruby color with a transparent core and a slightly watery rim; medium viscosity. No obvious staining of the tears and no signs of particles or gas. On the nose, the wine is intense. Funky cherry, red flowers, dried earth, bergamot, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry and structure is medium+ across the board. The fruits and non-fruits are confirmed with loads of minerals; there is a long savory finish. A very nice Chianti Classico that fits the bill. Drink now or over the next 10 years. — 2 years ago
