Baja East Wine

Hirsch Vineyards

East Ridge Pinot Noir 2012

Cool with coastal climate salts, muted dried strawberries and rose petals and cherry mint that need a real sniff. Refined with mid level expression, med rustic body, subtle nuance and concentration/structure that shows itself mostly in the mouth.

Lovely, not extraordinary.

Interesting for some reason i have always preferred the St. Andreas Fault. But i must also admit I habe really not sampled their other wines sufficiently.

I’ve found the Block 8 to be my favorite 🤷🏽‍♂️

Sorrenberg

Chardonnay 2016

Mid yellow in colour. Flinty, minerally with light stone fruit - under ripe peach/nectarine. Restrained, delicate, savoury, beautiful. Just an excellent Chardonnay whichever way you cut it. The labels copying the Burgundian graphics but totally worthy of the contents. Sorrenberg, in Beechworth, is a neighbour of Giaconda - generally recognised as one of the best in Australia. — 4 months ago

Estate Vineyard Chardonnay 2015

Funky, very sulphidic and smoky - very struck match …. but it works with nectarine notes. As I said in the previous note, Is this the best Chardonnay in Australia? Becoming hard to get when I bought a few bottles of the latest vintage a week ago. Like a quality Premier or Grand Cru white Burgundy. A medium bodied palate but the palate intensity is profound - off the charts. Soon I will have a blind tasting of 2015 Chardonnays with friends and include some Burgundies with wines like this, Leeuwin Estate, Heytesbury and Yattarna. — a month ago

Great bottle!! If not the best Chardonnay in Australia, it is up there with few others.
As you said it isn't the power, but the intensity of this wine that is so distinctive

v19. Very good! Floral and raspberry nose. Fresh raspberry and black cherry fruit. Round, smooth, slightly chalk and chewy, mocha finish. Nice! — 4 months ago

Gramercy Cellars

Lower East Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

These Lower East wines from Gramercy punch so far above their weight. They run half and full case sales maybe twice a year with free shipping, get on their mailing list, so good. — 24 days ago

East India Solera Sherry Palomino Fino Pedro Ximénez

This wine has a burnished look, deep brown. The nose is a treat all on its own. There are aromas of brown sugar, coffee and orange zest which combine for an amazing olfactory experience. The palate is just as joyful, with caramel, raisin and mocha notes. The acidity is fresh and exhilarating. Although the wine is described on the label as “cream,” it does not strike me as creamy. The viscosity is nice, though. It will pair well with dessert, or serve as one by itself. — 5 months ago
