ReZerve Amador County Primitivo 2017

Dark as night. Wow what a nose of notes. Pine needles and huckleberries. And spices. Indian curry spices. Flavor is deep, dark, with olives and some kinda savory plum flavor. Finish is dried fruits and sage. What a strange and gratifying red. Like Zin and great Bordeaux had a baby. — 4 days ago

Sumō Petite Sirah Blend 2013

Plush, smooth and a bit of blackberry jam. Big wine. Nothing subtle about it. Very enjoyable on its own. Beautiful color. — 18 days ago

El Dorado Gamay Noir 2014

Last one. Some bottle variation along the way, but this was still drinking well overall and relatively fresh. — 3 days ago

Arcana Savagnin 2018

So awesome to try savagnin from California. This is a delicious and unique wine. To think it’s the first vintage. On the nose very lemon candy/lemon toffee almost but then you take a sip and there’s great acidity that refreshes everything. Looking forward to more of this. — 9 days ago

Reserve The Pilot Hill Gang Matt Parish El Dorado County Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

This reserve release of the always superlative Pilot Hill Gang Cabernet Blend is labeled a Cabernet Sauvignon, so this one is at least 75% Cab, with the rest most likely Merlot. There is a bit of oak to the body, but not overmuch. The tannic structure is big; imagine Rutherford dust turned up to 11 😸 The overall flavor might be described as dried black currant and unsweetened dark chocolate. Perhaps there is a splash of Petit Verdot in the mix? Kudos Mr. Parish! — 5 days ago
