I’d been jonesing to try the Martha Stoumen collection for a long time. I’ve read plenty on her background - her training under Occhipinti at Cos and I love her thoughtful articulation of California terroir, natural wine, and Sicilian grapes.

This is fun bright sunshine at a meager 10%. The smell of oysters mid slurp - briny ocean and minerals. Flavors of sour lemon drop.

Really good merlot. Sour blueberry aroma. It started a bit harsh with heavy mineral flavors, but it was all gone when I poured my 2nd glass. Tart cherry, vanilla, pipe tobacco. Short finish, smooth leather tannins. I haven’t met a Coppola I didn’t like. — 5 years ago

Took a chance on this unusual red from Loire: unique varietal composition & bottle format, but delicious nonetheless! Fairly dark inky richly extracted w/concentrated aromas of red fruit literally up & down the spectrum: tart cherry, cranberry, ripe bing cherry (and sour cherry), some raspberry couli all mingled with white pepper, clay & subtle vein of minerality. I found it very complex & engaging if a bit disjointed when looking at interplay of acidity & tannins... — 4 years ago
