Sonoma County Old Vine Grenache 2012

About as good as grenache gets. Bright sour cherries followed by anise and black tea. Savory and balanced. — 7 days ago

Vallée d'Aoste Prëmetta 2019

So when my friend first brought me this and I was like gourmet from Italy, I completely thought it wasn’t even going to be worthwhile. Boy was I wrong. The classic strawberry and light fruit with medium acid to provide structure. Deliciously intact with a short and sweet expression of the grape. I didn’t know it was possible but this wind definitely showcases its elegance. — 9 days ago

Chester Gap Cellars

Virginia Cabernet Franc 2012

Chester Gap Cellars Cabernet Franc 2012. If you don’t know Virginia wine, this is a great one to start with! It’s medium-bodied, has a great nose & fruit profile and a beautiful spice finish thanks to the 8 year wait. Cheers🍷 — 2 months ago

Wight Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Had a lovely visit here in early 2020 with Haley. I fee like these wines don’t get as much recognition as they should, especially based on the quality of the fruit and the wine.

I opened this and gave it a quick pour…first thought was it was just kind of there. Wasn’t expressive, but wasn’t flawed. About 15-30mins later, it finally blossomed. For me, I always get a distinct note out of Wight vineyard…normally a high toned cherry/sweetened raspberries and sometimes a kiss of eucalyptus. I got all of that here on both the nose and palate, just slightly toned down. At 15.3ABV for 2005, this was well balanced and integrated. After corking the remaining third and having for dinner, it sported a lot of cherry chewing tobacco with herbal crusted ripe black cherries. This is bridging the gap between new world and old at this point. Best to consume in the next couple years if you want that balanced profile.
