Fabulous vintage from this amazing small producer. The juice shows bright and lively in the glass. The nose relveals a very rich and sophisticated range of aromas, going from the fruit of the ripe red cherries to more herbal balsamic scents like rosemary, sage, thyme, laurel, marjolaine and to more mineral aromas. The energy runs in the mouth as well, taking you deeply into the essence of the Ligurian spirit: stone, seasalt, mediterannean woodlands, wind, sun, rain, seaspray. Nothing is yelled but a lot is told. A true watercolor of the terroir. — 2 years ago

I can smell the wind, the sun, the stone buildings of Spain in this well made of straightforward Rioja. This 2006 is just coming into it’s given that it may have been fruit forward in its early life. I prefer the crianza from this same wine maker, the reserva goes down enjoyably easy. — 3 years ago
This is from Gap's Crown in the Petaluma Gap. Plum, strawberry and sweet spice notes — 22 days ago
It’s dark. Black-purple. Slightly edged in red. Nose is heady. Stewed fruits and dark unsweetened chocolate. Moss. Wet moss in there too. And some herbal extract. Not sure which. Flavor is rich. Slightly ‘sweet’ or fruity. Dark, ripe stone fruits. Plenty of acid cuts through though. Not stain the teeth and dry the tongue tannic as some Petite Sirah tends towards. There’s a smokey, savory element in there too. This is great. A big red, but one with elegance and style. — 2 years ago
