Solid Sauvignon Blanc. Great grapefruit nose, and good grapefruit flavor. A great value from New Zealand. — 17 days ago

Dry River

Chardonnay 2014

I’ve always had a soft spot for New Zealand Chardonnay and this wine from Martinborough supports the theory. Mid Lemon in colour. Dusty citrus and honey notes. These descriptors transfer through to the palate with white peach and medium acid. A touch of pineapple juice. Another classy Chardonnay from New Zealand. — 18 days ago

Dry River

Lovat Vineyard Syrah 2013

Dark Ruby red in colour. The over riding descriptor on nose and palate is black pepper. If you don’t like pepper in your reds (and I do) then you won’t like this. Just medium bodied from cool climate Martinborough (better known for excellent Pinot Noir and Chardonnay). Touch of red licorice. Fine tannins and ultra peppery. — 12 days ago

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Barely ripe peach and lychee on the nose, citrus and tart pineapple in flavor. Tend towards the green pepper thing with Sauvignon Blancs but this is pretty good too. — 17 days ago

Kennedy Point Vineyard

Waiheke Island Cabernet Sauvignon 2002

This is still thriving: elegantly styled Left Bank offering with bright beam of pure cherry & currant, cassis, along w/endearing secondary layers of earth, leather, herbaceousness, hint of pepper, tomato leaf and others... great complexity w/out being all over the place. Mid weight, mild tannins and great freshness. Impressive! — a month ago

Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2016

Dark cherries in the salad meet dark cherries.

If you love mid & dark, ripe fruits, spice, soft dry earth-dry gravel & stone, pronounced limestone, soft, fresh tobacco and cool climate acidity for days, spend $60-$65 on a Block 3 or 5 Pinot Noir. So good.

Both lettuces picked hours ago from my garden.

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

— 9 days ago
