A relaxed meal before Thanksgiving kicks off in earnest. Marcella hazan’s simple tomato sauce with butter and onions over some good tagliatelle, some broccoli raab, and sausage. Perfect pairing. Gave it a 1.5 hour decant which was the right call. Definitely a bit of “rustic” tannins but the fruit is quite open and giving and the finish is pure with good acid. Deep purple in color; on the nose, it's clean with pronounced intensity primary and secondary aromas of blackberries, dried herbs, and vanilla; on the palate, it's dry, with high acidity, high tannins, medium alcohol, full body, and pronounced primary and secondary flavors of plum, baking spices, a hint of black pepper, and crushed gravel with a long finish.
