Prevail Back Forty Rock Rise Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

100% Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon. Very complex. Dark ruby color with a garnet rim. Aromas and flavors of blackberry, plum, black currant, baking spices and dark chocolate. Nice hint of toasted oak on the long and lingering finish. Totally New World in style. Smooth tannins and excellent mouthfeel. Full bodied and juicy. Tannins have relaxed with bottle age. Quite expressive. High quality. — 2 months ago

Reserve Chardonnay 2022

Bright gold. Inviting nose and medium full palate of lightly carameled apple, butterscotch, and white pepper. Medium plus acidity brightens it all from entry to medium short finish. The "popcorny" element of previous vintages has gone away in favor of a more balanced fruit to oak to malo ratio yielding a lighter version of the big Carneros style of Robert Lloyd's namesake offering. Very nice if you like this style. Drink now. — 3 months ago

Elevage Stags Leap District Merlot Blend 2006

Decanted this 2006 for a day before drinking. I did taste when I first opened and it was good but after a day it was soft and luscious in the mouth and tasted precisely like what it is, a merlot driven Bordeaux. It paired beautifully with a hearty beef stew and then was great on its own. — 3 months ago
