500 Chevaux is an automobile racing term; French for “500 horsepower.” Nellcôte founder and vintner Tyler Olbres is an avid car-racing fan, and has himself driven in the Monaco Rallye for Classic Cars. This wine is a high-horsepower Cabernet, meant to be sleek, powerful, and fully able to go the distance.
LAST BOTTLE Notes,
Nellcote was an uber-pricey luxury Cab that recently closed its doors, and, after extensive tasting through all the brilliant, incredibly fine-tuned Cabernets early last year, that none other than Phillip Titus (yep, THAT Phillip Titus, the legend behind CHAPPELLET and others!) made,

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Dark purple in color with a short purple rim.
Fruity nose, spicy and elegant, with nice complexity.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with medium acidity.
Showing blackberries, black currants, cooked plums, cedar, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, earth, vanilla, coffee, cola and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This young Napa Cabernet needs three to five years in the bottle to mature properly.
Drinking nicely now, and needs 2 hours in the decanter to calm down a bit, and bring out the tannins and more structure.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine.
Spicy, rich and extracted.
A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7.5% Petit Verdot, 7% Merlot and 4.5% Malbec.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
92 points.

Love Titus! — 3 years ago
Dark, blackish purple with red black core. Inviting nose of blackberry cobbler and ash. Palate confirms the nose adding smoky blueberry. Firm, crushed velvet tannins assert immediately and through the medium length finish. Medium New World level acidity (of course). Petite Sirah is clearly in a leading role in this bold California red from the folks at Titus (get it? Titus Andronicus?). Excellent choice for steaks and cookout fare. Drink now through 2026. — 2 months ago
This is a delicious Cabernet Franc from Napa Valley.
Dry on the palate with medium acidity. Full bodied and bold.
Showing black fruits with earth, oak, licorice, cola, coffee, dark chocolates and tobacco.
Starting to drink nicely now, although still young. Spicy and entertaining. Will continue to age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years.
Needs 4 hours to open up properly.
Will pair nicely with BBQ Meats. I paired it with cheeses. Paired great with the goat cheese and herbs.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
