Hertelendy
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a delicious one from Napa Valley.
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, sweet plums, cooked cherries, earth, cedar, leather, coffee, cola, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, dried meat, herbs and black pepper.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with black currants, sweet cherries, oak, light vanilla, spices, dark chocolates, black tea, peppercorn, pencil lead, dark coffee and earth.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from a great vintage in Napa Valley. Spicy and interesting.
Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Shows nice complexity at this point.
This 7 year old is drinking very nicely now and will continue to age in the next 5 to 10 years.
Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime. Needs 3 hours to open up properly, and show the complexity.
Good by itself as a sipping wine, but good with food as well. Will pair nicely with a big piece of steak. I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot, 7% Merlot, 5% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc. Aged in French oak barrels for 23 months. A small production of only 30 barrels.
14.7% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
$135.

The prep for my Napa trip continues as Classic hosted Hertelendy Winery tonight. Extremely small production with PTitus as the consulting winemaker. Vineyards located just below the Howell Mtn designation.
This is great, but it needs a lot of time (and that’s coming from someone who enjoys their wines younger). Raspberries, espresso, cocoa, and the oak was trying to run the show (but not overbearing). Balance of fruit and slight spice on the finish. RParker 96pts.

Decent Napa Cabernet. Dark ripe currants, round, full bodied, soft & silky tannins. @ Pebble Beach Food & Wine.

Apr 23rd, 2017Amazing! Philip Titus is the consulting winemaker. Red currant, raspberry, expresso, violets, and cocoa. Excellent! Definitely recommend. Opened 30 minutes prior to drinking.

Oct 24th, 2020Nice Cab with soft tannins and not over bearing oak. Probably could use a little more time to really open up. Howell Mtn product.

Nov 14th, 2017Another wine I've never heard of, it received a 96 so figured I'll give it a try.
Nothing distinctive about it, just a Cabernet. Actually only 76% cab then petite verdot, merlot & malbec
Where have all the Knockmores gone😞,
This has the stuffing, it just needs years to come around, not an early drinker.
