Just like the ‘17 bottling, this is a robust, structured red with deep black fruit, spice, and earthy undertones. Started off with light barnyard, the Tannat delivers dense plum and licorice, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon’s cassis and Cabernet Franc’s herbal lift. Firm tannins and vibrant acidity promise another 8-10 years aging potential.

Terrific red wine from the La Clarine Estate vineyard, reminds me a little of Domaine de Trevallon (Cab and Syrah, though here other grapes as well), big and rich still, showing just a tad of mature notes, long, persistent finish, hides its 14.5% ABV well, kudos to Hank!! — 7 months ago

@Tom Casagrande, in the early days of LCF, Hank would make 20-50 cases of this, I used to be able to get 3 bottles (I might have bought 6 a few times). I actually don’t know if Hank is making enough of this these past 10 or so years to sell it commercially, I know I have some 2011 (which I’ll report on soon), but not exactly sure the last vintage I was able to buy?!?!

Dense, tannic, medium weight texture, good acidity, a little stony earth and funk. Tastes Italian, but less rustic than that implies. A little on the simple side but tastes good wine for grownups. I imagine it could age a lot. 90. — 5 months ago
