Clos St. Jean Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2019

Definitely one of the most exciting producers in Chassagne right now, and whose wines seem to get better and better with each subsequent vintage, 2019 CSJ is excellent tonight, concentrated, structured and wonderfully balanced between the richness of the vintage and its minerality and verve. Last sips were the best. — 7 months ago

Sur Le Sentier Du Clou Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Chardonnay 2011

Nice premier cru from St Aubin with just over 10 years age. Was honestly hoping for a bit more overall but this was an excellent pairing with some blackened sea bass. Not okay at all, definite green minerality characteristic that is hard for me to describe. Medium minus acid and the finish isn’t quite all encompassing. But still a nice wine. — 2 years ago

Clos St. Jean Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Pinot Noir 1990

1990 vintage. Decanted. Yes, this is a red. Well-balanced and plenty of harmony. Picked up a slightly meaty, gamey flavor after 20 mins in the decanter. Light-medium body but enough vibrancy to hold steady at this clip for another 7-10 years without noticeable drop off. 8.27.23. — 3 months ago

Superb St-Aubin with this PYCM signature, mineral driven with a certain richness and roundness typical of that vintage, but without being too heavy, nice length, gorgeous and showing no rush to drink up this 2015.

En Remilly St. Aubin 1er Cru Chardonnay 2017

first time w this relatively new kid. Son of P-Y? Came out of the gate pretty pricey, as did Alvina Pernot. Guess you don’t need to earn your stripes now. But it’s a darned good wine. Minerals from front to back. Acid. A touch of lemon for fruits. Reminded son in law of Muscadet. But denser and no saline. Good stuff. — 5 months ago

He is P-Y’s brother. Domaine Marc Colin has now been divided into three, with Joseph starting his own domaine. I believe that two siblings remain running Marc Colin.

"Sous Roche" Saint-Romain Pinot Noir 2002

9.3

Must be last bottle, was surprised and impressed years ago, not easy to find. This is one terrific bottle, flowery berries and minerals, supple, pure, light and elegant in dance on palate. Silky finish. Pleasure. quintessential Burg. Certainly better than previous note. — 9 months ago

Clos St. Jean Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2013

Beautiful nose of spearmint accented tropical fruit. Layers of apricot, citrus & a savory note move across the palate. Elegant weight & fresh bright acid add textural complexity. This is in a wonderful spot right now. — 4 years ago
