Red Bordeaux

Guinaudeau

"G" Acte 6 Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

This is getting better each year. Great blend of merlot and cab franc, it has black berries, cherries, violettes and crushed roses, in a medium bodied and very balanced wrap. No excess maturity nor excess alcohol, all done to perfection. Still requires a few years, maybe 3 to 4, but hard to resist now. Top notch stuff and goes for such low prices if you can find them. 2018 is now called Les Perrières de Lafleur and goes for 99 bucks. Plays in the big league !!! — 5 days ago

Good to hear, I bought the 2016 because I didn’t want follow the price increases of classic Bordeaux wines for 2016. Looking forward opening one!

We did bought 2014, 2015 and 2016. Just found some 2012 and buying too. Have yet to taste the 2016. 2015 is richer and less classical than the 2014 but really good and well done. I guess each year will get better. Let me know your thoughts on the 2016 once you have it !

Château Saint-Christoly

Médoc 2014

Red currant and toast and cedar and tobacco. This is a nice médoc nose. The palate is well made with a good balance and a bright fruit, a nice tannins layer in midpalate leaving a slight drying effect, and a long médoc finish with oak, black currant and that disruptive layer. We had it over a plate of cheese and charcuterie, next to the estuaire in... Saint christoly, right next to the estate and side by side with the owner. Cool experience! — 3 days ago

Château La Grave (Paul Barre)

Aux Caudelayres Fronsac Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Lyle Fass
9.3

Lovely, ripe nose of cassis, huckleberry, tobacco, plum and spice. Lovey minerality. Very fine and refined. Palate is juicy and structured with lovely purity, length and balance. Really showing well. Love Fronsac when it is on. Outstanding length. Nose is bright and high toned. Such a lively bottle of Bordeaux. Great fruit soak on the finish and terrific mineral infused texture. 9.3. Maybe 9.4 with air. Much better than my last bottle. Nose has cocoa now. Big plum. Classic right bank satellite vibes. Unreal juiciness. Tangy cassis. — 11 hours ago

Château Smith Haut Lafitte

Le Petit Haut Lafitte Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

2015 vintage. Herbs, soy sauce, mocha, raw beef, dark cherry and blackberry in the nose. Light/Medium body with the wine exhibiting a little pinot/burg style with introductory leaner tannins and then fattens up with the plum/cherry/cassis trifecta. A Burgundy drinker’s Bordeaux that finishes earthy and herbal. Deliciously different. — 5 days ago

Château Pontet-Canet

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

And so it happened that after 30 years or so since I started to fel in love with wine the wife says: “I think it’s time I learned more about wine”. Even when you thought live is not longer capable to surprise you, it does🤣 so after finishing a bottle of Gloria ‘06 we opened a bottle Pontet Canet ‘06 and the education started. And with a little help of the internet we kicked of, meanwhile swapped the full bottle into a empty bottle 🤪 so now we find another reason to drink some wine, let there be rock!! — 3 days ago

Château Brande-Bergere

Cuvée O'Byrne Bordeaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 vintage. One of the best wines to be found under the humble "Bordeaux Supérieur" appellation. Very elegant with bright crisp red fruit and a minty freshness. Impeccable balance and very good length. As always very reliable. Highly recommended. — 8 days ago

Sauvignon De Seguin

Bordeaux Supérieur 2018

2018 vintage. Some reticence (rose petals, earth and plum) on the nose. Medium-bodied. Decent throughout without any high points other than consistency. No loss of flavors at any point and finish longer than expected. $11.99 at Trader Joe’s. Will pick up a few more for easy, decent drinking at a cheap chicken price. Label is (nearly the) same hue as Château D’Issan from Margaux. — 9 days ago

Château Latour

Le Pauillac de Chateau Latour Red Bordeaux Blend 1993

A terrific wine for the vintage, Latour's 1993 reveals an opaque purple color, a backward, cedar, black walnut, cassis, and earth-scented nose, medium to full body, gorgeously rich, concentrated fruit, moderately high tannin (but no astringency), and a sweet, long, powerful finish. The wine does not possess any of the vegetal, green pepper characteristics of the vintage, nor any hint of hollowness or harshness. This wine may prove to merit an even higher rating. — 4 days ago

Chateau Carignan

Prima Premières Côtes de Bordeaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

Ming L
9.1

While the nose is deep and brooding with plum, blackberry, pine cone, worn leather, and dried herbs, not dissimilar to the 04 and 05 vintages, this 06 shows the juiciest and freshest palate. Grainy but gripping tannins that will take another 3-5 years to resolve.

Lovely Merlot!

Château Prieuré-Lichine

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

2015 vintage. Bouquet of mostly smoke and dark cherry with some supplemental aromas of roasted nuts and coriander. Medium + body. Flavors pretty tight after 30 mins being open but fleshy and flashing that dark cherry along with some dark plum in a decidedly sleek fashion. A little cocoa powder accent on the finish. — 2 days ago
