Nose has wet lemon slice, cold lavender, lemon grass freshly chopped, white/yellow flowers, honeydew melon and dry beach sand.
Palate has green melon / white flower mash-up, fresh lemon zest, lavender leaves, slight spice (Gewürztraminer-like) notes, medium finish...very refreshing! Great Effort, 💕❤️Ravines!
Unsure of the exact blend percentages but Morten notes it is a dry blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris & 6% Muscat Ottonel. Nicely balanced almost old world style Bordeaux blend. Nose has crisp cherry fruit, hint of violets, a little herbal wisp, and a well-judged modest oak note. Mouthfilling flavors but with a nice sense of lightness. Still some youthful tannin to resolve, which, together with the nice acids, augurs for a few more years in the cellar. — 3 months ago
Light but lots of tart red fruit flavor, balanced by a savory note. Nice. — 3 days ago
Nose has ripe yellow apple, creamy oak goodness, pineapple core and browned butter.
Palate has ripe pineapple, under-ripe pineapple, ripe yellow apple, light oak notes with notable acidity still and medium finish. Still many, many years to go on this wine, drink 2025-2030+ from proper storage. Decanted 8H.
I'll reiterate prior comments, this is a unique wine...Winery notes:
"80% of the grapes were immediately whole cluster pressed. The Chardonnay was fermented in French oak with about 16% new oak. The remaining 20% of the grapes were placed, single layer, in shallow trays for six weeks following the traditional Passito method. After natural dehydration, the grapes were gently pressed and fermented in barrels. The two fractions were blended prior to bottling. A full malolactic fermentation lowered the acidity and improved the texture of the wine. The wine was gently filtered prior to bottling." — a month ago
Structured and concentrated but racy; petrol-forward; fruit is plenty ripe but there is a green, herbal component; sort of harsh but the finish brings a softer, honeyed note. A bit lacking for pleasure now, but very interested to revisit this a couple years down the line. — 2 months ago
Nose has chocolate covered cherry, raspberry jam on old saddle leather, stemmy notes, moist garden soil, ripe black cherry and (faint) licorice/anise notes.
Palate has black cherry, blackberry, dried oak, dried cranberry with moist loam on the medium length finish. A young bottle still, please cellar and enjoy 2026-2036 from proper storage. Decanted 8H.
