Exceptionally rich yet nervy, Lohsa 2013 Morellino di Scansano is certainly cut along the local Sangiovese lines of this DOCG but this is cut of a finer woolen and fragrant cloth true to the Poliziano house whose handsome strength comes through in savory spiced cherries and al dente tannins. Tasty. Red purple, opaque. Smell is of plum, raspberry and must. Full bodied, lots of dark fruit, tannic. Finish is pretty astringent. Don’t love the finish but overall enjoyable. Nice on its own but would also pair nicely with more robust meals. — 3 months ago
