Firm acidity to support the rich apple, pear and citrus flavors and toasty oak component. — 12 days ago
This was opened and we enjoyed a few glasses before recorking and reapproaching 24 hours later, at which point it was really singing. Yellow peach, pear and medley of orchard fruit, layered with pressed yellow flowers, dried persimmon, and notes of vanilla and bourbon. So delicate. Such fine bubbles. Saltwater taffy and some caramel and rock salt on the palate. Subtle tannic echo. Mesmerizing. — a month ago
Grand chard. Pear skin. Grapefruit. Custardy. Reserved but very confident. Ethan’s from Labor Day. — 3 months ago
Pop and pour. A wondrous medium gold color. On the nose: Asian pear, oyster shells, lemon, floral, toasted nuts. Taste: great creamy-chalky mouthfeel with lemon, minerals, tart green apple, honey, cider. YUM! Still delicious at 27 years. — 20 days ago
It’s Miller time. Well…actually Billecart time. I like this more than I buy it. One of good cuvées easily found in 375ml.
The body creamy, layered, nice c02, bruised golden & green apple, ripe Bosc pear, pineapple flesh, tropical melons-mango driven, lime & lemon zest, cream soda, cream, white spice-ginger, bread, yeast, brioche, soft but grainy moist chalkiness, sea spray/fossils, slightly chard sourdough toast, wet/softened alluvial, limestone, wet river stone, notes of flintiness, yellow lilies, white orchids, fruit blossoms, jasmine, rainfall acidity, excellent balanced fruit & earth, tension, structure with a juicy two-minute polished finish that falls onto beautiful minerality.
BTW, home grown tomatoes with Companion Bakery wheat sourdough, lightly toasted w/ olive oil, burrata, Tondo balsamic (stunning), olive oil & fresh basil never gets old. — 2 months ago
Jorge Ordonez is consistent and fairly priced always. Ripe pear, peach, citrus, acid. Food friendly but fine on its own. — 2 months ago
Haven't logged anything in ages but had to write about this. Full nose with bready, yeasty notes. Rich and concentrated on the palate. Tart apple and pear. — 2 months ago
Happy Anniversary Sofia. I miss you honey and will forever! Cortona calling. Cheers! 🍾🥂
I had this a few years ago and thought this needed another 3-4…apparently wasn’t wrong. Not as stellar as the 07. Starting come into its own. Golden apple, green apple, lime pulp, tropical melon, just ripe pineapple, ripe pear, vanillin, caramel, cream, sea spray, alluvial limestone minerals, beautiful mid grain chalkiness, brioche, baguette crust, nice, soft yeastiness, jasmine, yellow lilies, really nice acidity, well structured, balanced, delicious finish that lasts two-minutes. 🌹 — 2 months ago
Closed and shy at the moment. Everything on 1 but all the hallmarks are there. The pear and cut lime, and pineapple twist that says Leeuwin/gingin. — 5 months ago
