Cuvée à l'Ancienne Grand Cru Brut Champagne 2012

A special wine. Blast of apple and pear at the core wrapped in honeycomb and lemon and a serious long chalky finish. The mousse on this bottle is very fine and creamy. I also got notes of yeasty biscuit and toasted nuts. — 5 days ago

Les Pitangerets Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Chardonnay 2016

Great bottle well worth the asking price that is not cheap for a St-Aubin. White orchard fruit, minerlitity and a touch of roundness, fresh and classy, elegant and so well balanced. The bottle emptied itself in a flash. Great stuff.

Quel délice. Fruits blancs, fraîcheur, minéralité, une touche de richesse, quelle classe et élégance aussi, très équilibré et savoureux, la bouteille s’est vidée en le temps de le dire. 91-92

Niederhäuser Riesling 2003

A good grower’s basic Riesling QbA should be enjoyable young but also capable of aging well, even in a very hot vintage like this one. I’ve had many 20 to 40 year old vintages from Anheuser and they’ve almost always been excellent. Quite youthful yellow-gold color. Earth and flinty minerals to the nose. Good structural balance with the sugar well hidden in the long finish. — 9 days ago

Boogie Nights Larner Vineyard Malvasia Bianca 2019

Great example of a New World malvasia. Outpaces what Steve Clifton at Palmina does with this varietal in terms of depth and length (chalk that up to winemaker’s preference). No idea about how well it might age, but I wouldn’t bother waiting! — 21 days ago

Brilliance Indian Single Malt Whisky 2020

This is the Christmas bottling (3rd edition). While people say it screams peat, I didn’t get that. It’s a pleasant dram and I find it better than the standard version. That said not something I think you have to go out and find. — 10 days ago

Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

Wow!! Upon opening, the nose was filled with plum, blackberries, raspberries, and stone fruits. Velvety on the tongue, and beautiful tannins. So much fruit, this wine might have lasted another 5+ years. An exceptional bottle from an amazing wine maker. Thank you, Amy, for the introduction, with cheers to your new family member! — 9 days ago

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2015

Double decant 1 hour. Color — brilliant garnet red! An aroma of dark cherry, vanilla and cedar strikes the nose with floating essence of floral and spices and a subtle barn yard funk lingering at the end. Taste— Honey-vanilla spice notes rest on the tip of the tongue leading to the dark cherry tart flavors on the mid-pallet giving it a juicy luscious feel in the mouth. The medium plus finish lingers with a cedar barnyard funk where you can still taste the presence of the tannins. Needs to age longer so the tannins and flavors are more integrated, but enjoying this Pinot on a rainy evening; definitely need here in CA! — 17 days ago

Thanksgiving: traditional lunch, but dinner of venison blackstrap and cedar plank salmon. Had two bottles of this - first was corked, sadly, but this is singing. Previous notes apply. Just a wonderful wine with food. — 4 days ago

my understanding is that no Les Grands Amandiers was produced and that Domaine crop went into this Maison bottling
