864 Winery Block Release Yarra Valley Syrah 2017

Juicy nose, lacking fruit and oak slightly pointy today. Not the best showing of a good Syrah. — 4 months ago

Morey-Saint-Denis Pinot Noir 2012

Tasted blind beside the Oakridge willowlake.
Pinot Noir is a mind blowingly versatile grape.

Local Vineyard Series Oakridge Vineyard Shiraz 2019

Great structure. Built to last. Firm foundation of tannin and bite from the sweet/sour red fruit . So@much better on second day. Good for aging. — 2 months ago

Local Vineyard Series Hazeldene Vineyard Chardonnay 2016

Treads the middle path between citrus and stone fruit - more lighter than full bodied. From one of Australia’s Premier exponents of Chardonnay in David Bicknell. No malolactic. Opened another bottle 27 weeks later on 16th April 2020 with similar notes. Very well made and great drinking for the price. — a year ago

Block 1 Hazeldene Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018

Very nice proper Yarra pinot. Everything in its place. Red fruit dominates but there is some savoury funk and tannin to give interest and structure. Buy again — a month ago

864 Block A6 Willowlake Vineyard Chardonnay 2012

Mid lemon in colour. Some mealy funky notes. On the palate sweet citrus on palate with profound intensity and very long with medium plus acidity. Blossoming at 8 years of age from one of Australia’s best Chardonnay makers and Chair of the Royal Brisbane Wine Show, David Bicknell. Post fermentation from 30% new French Oak barrels the wine was sulphured in situ to prevent malo conversion and preserve the natural high acidity. The following night overtones of pineapple juice. — 7 months ago

Vineyard Series Henk Chardonnay 2017

Definitely not a shy wine, this one. Plenty of stone fruit on the palate, following a struck match, citrus and apple nose and then ending with a focussed, lingering citrus line. Yum. — 2 years ago
