My last bottle of this excellent Oakridge 864 Chardonnay. See previous Delectable notes. Great citric intensity on nose and palate. Oak is totally integrated - just a faint vanilla note. My previous note in May 2021 said lacking mid palate fruit but this has filled out nicely - it just needed another year.

Nothing to add to my previous notes. A well made Chardonnay from Chardonnay specialist, David Bicknell. Made in the leaner style. Travelling well at 10 years.

From Yarra Valley Chardonnay specialist Oakridge (they make other wines but always felt David Bicknell does his best work with Chardonnay). This from the cool wet difficult 2011 vintage. An excellent Chardonnay showing Grapefruit and Struck Match characters. Good intensity and great length. Richer and more fulsome than expected given the vintage. More like a white burgundy than any other Australian Chardonnay I can think of. At the recent Langtons Classification Tasting held every 4 years Oakridge 864 Chard was admitted for the first time in the Excellent Category.

Cool. Climate. Lots of sour fruit. Not worth the $30
