So far all Bouju wines I tasted are powerful, overly young and not simple (in variety of meanings). This one is no exception. Ripe cherry, dark cherry, earthy hints, chocolate powder, white pepper, banana. All this leads me to Morgon or some neighbouring appellation, but nope! Tannic, astringent palate with highly volatile finish backed by black cherry. Definitely interesting and sophisticated wine. But so damn young! Decant unless you want to be washed away by a wave of hair spray! Then it becomes beautiful, by gaining medicinal herbs notes in the nose and cherry-vanilla-VA-chocolate flavours. Giving extra 1 for no apparent reason.

This lightly tinted greenish wine brings a nose that is heavy on the minerals, with citrus and a slight floral aspect. The aroma is dominated by a beautiful savory sense. On the palate, very mineral-laden, great flinty salinity and a savory finish. The nice acidity makes it a great Wine to pair with seafood. I had mine with a lovely quiche Lorraine at Monsiour Marcel’s in L.A.’s Farmers Market. My wife loved it and immediately wanted to make a cocktail with it, using Creme de Cassis. Rieussec R de Rieussec Blanc Sec is a beautifully balanced, aromatic blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc varieties hailing from the Bordeaux region of France. 🇫🇷
It is a dry wine, but is produced partly from the same vines that produce this estate’s Sauternes. Château Rieussec is a Sauternes Premier Cru Classé according to the 1855 classification and was acquired by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) in 1984.
This wine has lovely complexity with exuberant notes of citrus blossom, honeysuckle, gardenia, orange and grapefruit peel, fresh peach, apricot, fresh herbs, bay leaf, and delicate minerality. It is medium bodied and has vibrant acidity. 👏👏👏
It was a delicious pairing with the halibut and fennel in a cream sauce with lemon, anise oil and steamed haricots verts. It held up to the rich, creamy flavors and contributed a light, bright, elevating dimension to the culinary experience. — 21 hours ago
Gorgeous dark nose. Mullberry, black cherries, black berries, deep spice and earth tones. Super lifted and aromatic. I’m not sure if this is Ardeche or Moselle. I’ll circle back. Seems Ardeche. Very pretty. Even hints of floral. Sawdust. Smoke. Surprisingly complex. Palate is luscious and ample with tangy red fruits and lovely freshness. Good energy and almost a red Riesling quality. This is Ardeche as the granite is coming through now. Lovely sweetness as it opens. Very good for everyday Pinot. — 12 days ago
Rare grape from Isère (near Savoie) and another @Lyle Fass curio. First sip after 3-hr decant brought to mind young Loire cab franc—bright fruit, tannin, high-toned acidity. Calmed down over a few hours and blossomed in the zalto. Pretty nose, bright cherry; palate has a softness that recalls mountain nebbiolo, earthy, young tannin, great structure, high acid. Terrific match with the barberries & cardamom in an Ottolenghi dish; cut through the chicken fat and really helped make a memorable meal. — 16 days ago
