Only had a glass with dinner but a lovely, drinkable, full bodied Pinot. — 22 days ago
This is second vintage to come exclusively from the Martinelli Charles Ranch, two miles in from the Pacific, aged for 12 months in 25% new oak. Pale lemon with aromas of ripe stone fruits with wafts of blossom and spice. On the palate rich ripe apple and pear with a touch of zesty citrus fruits, crisp, with big vanilla notes. Nice mouthfeel, vivid acidity, medium+ finish ending with fruit, vanilla and citrus mineral character. Nice! Tried twice. — 2 months ago
Boom! In your face oak and fruit. If this doesn’t make you a Zin fan, I have no idea how to help you. — a month ago
Having this side by side with the 2007 Lolita Ranch Pinot. We have two dishes duck confit and baked salmon with polenta. Both wines obviously amazing with confit and surprising pair well with the salmon
Fresh cut ripe plum and dark cherry, cola, still super youthful on the nose.
The palate is dense but silky, vanilla, mixed berries, cedar and tobacco. Bright and vibrant. The heavy oak influence carries it through its age. Definitely needs a chill as the alcohol is a little hot.
Glad I'm having this wine with age — 4 months ago
This wine is medium ruby. On the nose it has medium intensity of youthful aromas. Aromas include primary notes of candied black cherry, cherry cola, raspberry, rhubarb, also violet, and black licorice; it offers prominent secondary aromas of vanilla, nutmeg, and clove. It’s a dry wine with medium(+) acidity, a medium body(+), high alcohol, medium tannins, and medium(+) intensity in flavors consistent with the nose. This wine has a medium(+) finish.
This is a powerhouse of a Pinot Noir. It’s intense. It’s delicious. I believe it is capable of being consumed now with pleasure, but has the structure to age. With age I imagine it will soften and grow interesting tertiary characteristics.
Martinelli, Bondi Home Ranch Vineyard, Estate Grown Pinot Noir. Vintage 2017. ABV 15.5% 👀 — 6 months ago
Oh man does that 15.2% alcohol bust through. Even with a chill this wine is super hot.
Smells fresher and younger than it's 2007 Bondi Home Ranch counterpart. I guess that bulb in alcohol and new oak helps.
Nose is bing cherry, cola and oak. Palate is blasted candied cherry, anise, cedar, baking spice. — 4 months ago
