Cantina Gungui

Berteru Cannonau di Sardegna 2019

Thanks Alex! Wonderful granache (cannonau), - earthy, volcanic, meaty, savory. Paired well with mushroom pasta. The winemaker Luca Gungui knows what he's doing. — a month ago

Silver Oak

Six Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

First off, all the reviews on Delectable were not for Silver Oak Six. Six is only made in select years. 2009 for Alexander Valley, 2012 for Napa Valley, 2014 Alexander Valley. Okay, now to the review of the ‘09 Six (Alex). Upon opening this was tight with sharp edges. After a 5 hour decant, this wine is smoking! Complex and brooding with harmonious fruit and acid! I drank a 2012 Six (Napa) a few months ago and I was critical of the wine. I now think I erred in not letting that wine breath. Shame on me! If you are reading a review of a Six that says it is a vintage other than ‘09, ‘12 or ‘14, please know those are in error. — 2 months ago

Domaine la Monardière

Les 2 Monardes Vacqueyras Red Rhone Blend

Alex Lallos

Another great bottle. 2009 out of 500ml (was meant for bistro and not import). Lovely from a ripe year. I prefer the less ripe / more restrained versions but this is as good as vacqueras gets. The new vintages are top notch but fun to try these older ones as well: modern and plush but still some old school roots. For around $20 it’s pretty insane (email me and I’ll send you two bottles for the price of one) — 2 months ago

Thanks Alex. A beauty from Sardinia. Crisp, acidic, volcanic minerality, pear, citrus. — a month ago

Paolo Bea

San Valentino Sangiovese Blend 2015

Alex deftly decanted by glads with Vinturi Aerator. This rich blend of Sangiovese, Sagrantino and Montepulciano fills the palette. Sour cherries, salty bacon, scraped leather, lasting finish. Paola Bea, a master of Umbrian wine! — a month ago
