Château Poujeaux

Moulis en Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 1985

Great to see how this classical claret holds well at 35 years. Very dark rubi color with a hint of brick on the sides, blackcurrant, black berries, steak tartare and peppers. Fresh, balanced, medium bodied, good length. Punches well above its weight and will trump anyone as a high class growth rather than cru bourgeois. Beautiful. Ready, but no rush. — 15 days ago

‘13 vintage is showing beautifully. Graphite. Cigar box. All that you expect and want. Gorg. And cheap at Big Y in great Barrington. I bought it all. — 13 days ago

Château Bernadotte

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Pours ruby with some translucence. Benefits from a few hours decanting. Nose of tobacco, brown sugar, subtle strawberry and generous oak. Opens to cassis, truffle, leather and cigar box. Medium finish, with long tannins. Very well balanced. Great vintage, could be kept for much longer — a day ago

Château Sociando-Mallet

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 vintage. Open for nearly an hour and the nose is closed for business. Medium/Heavy body and flavors coming through tho. Blackberry. Big cherry/plum combination. Choco cake. Hint o’ mint. Obsequious richness front-end loaded with the ample tannins jumping into the hot tub at the midway point. The best thing about this young pup is the balance. Could still go for a little more on the back end but the first two-thirds is so nice, I’ve laminated a hall pass with its’ name on it. — 5 days ago

Château Latour

Le Pauillac de Chateau Latour Red Bordeaux Blend 1993

A terrific wine for the vintage, Latour's 1993 reveals an opaque purple color, a backward, cedar, black walnut, cassis, and earth-scented nose, medium to full body, gorgeously rich, concentrated fruit, moderately high tannin (but no astringency), and a sweet, long, powerful finish. The wine does not possess any of the vegetal, green pepper characteristics of the vintage, nor any hint of hollowness or harshness. This wine may prove to merit an even higher rating. — 5 days ago

Château Prieuré-Lichine

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

2015 vintage. Bouquet of mostly smoke and dark cherry with some supplemental aromas of roasted nuts and coriander. Medium + body. Flavors pretty tight after 30 mins being open but fleshy and flashing that dark cherry along with some dark plum in a decidedly sleek fashion. A little cocoa powder accent on the finish. — 4 days ago

Château Saint-Christoly

Médoc 2014

Red currant and toast and cedar and tobacco. This is a nice médoc nose. The palate is well made with a good balance and a bright fruit, a nice tannins layer in midpalate leaving a slight drying effect, and a long médoc finish with oak, black currant and that disruptive layer. We had it over a plate of cheese and charcuterie, next to the estuaire in... Saint christoly, right next to the estate and side by side with the owner. Cool experience! — 4 days ago

Château Pontet-Canet

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

And so it happened that after 30 years or so since I started to fel in love with wine the wife says: “I think it’s time I learned more about wine”. Even when you thought live is not longer capable to surprise you, it does🤣 so after finishing a bottle of Gloria ‘06 we opened a bottle Pontet Canet ‘06 and the education started. And with a little help of the internet we kicked of, meanwhile swapped the full bottle into a empty bottle 🤪 so now we find another reason to drink some wine, let there be rock!! — 4 days ago

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1986

Dark tawny, mostly opaque with amber-ish and clear rims. Quiet nose with faded fruit, until this opened up after a 4 hr decant. Then there are ample notes of black berries, cedar wood, cola, red cherries, some herbs, some mocha and a little pine. Was at its best when washing down a nicely grilled T-bone. — 6 days ago
