The night before Halloween on this Friday. I have opened the 2016 Clos du Clocher Pomerol Bordeaux Blend. The blend on this wine is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. A beautiful Right Bank Bordeaux that is rich and refreshing.
On the nose there is black cherry, blueberry, blackberry, mocha, herbs, spice, graphite, oak and earth.
The palate shows black cherry, blackberry, red plum, bell pepper, spice, cedar and crushed gravel
This wine is medium to full bodied with a smooth velvety mouth feel, medium + acidity and medium + grippy mouth coating sandpaper tannins that leads to a ling dark fruit earthy finish. I wish everyone a wonderful Halloween weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 25 days ago
Like a Pinot noir with a bit of funky hay and some overripe blackberries with a hint of clove... super yum. A few layers, fruit, then spice, but simple enough to enjoy anytime. — 5 months ago
A very good red wine. As stated elsewhere, a decent dinner wine that will go with most fall and winter dishes. Hits a bit hard off the bat, but opens up well with lots of flavor on the finish — 3 years ago
Dad really likes. Too sharp for Mom; — 2 months ago
Doing the typical “Two sides of the Loire” comparative tasting.
Muted on the nose with shy green grass & nettle + starts showing a very interesting waxy note after some time. More vivid on the palate, though still defined rather by its acidic structure than fruit. Ripe gooseberries, green apples and the grass again. Finishes off with an austere flinty, slightly steely note.
Not bad but quite far from what Sancerre is capable of. — 3 months ago
