Closerie du Pelan was a recent acquisition by the Amoreau family (Chateau Le Puy). This particular example from the 2001 vintage was made by the previous owner; some leftover stock from the cellars.
Popped and poured. The 2001 pours a rudy color with a near opaque core. Medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with nose of cassis, dark plum, tobacco, cigar box, damp earth and gentle baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins (mostly integrated) and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. This was a lovely surprise and I’m super curious how the Amoreau-effect will play a role at Closerie du Pelan from 2022, onward. Drink now through 2031+ — 2 months ago
Wonderful combination of bright fruit and structure. People sometimes forget that rosés are red wines, but this wine was a wonderful partner for a roast lamb and eggplant dish. Have this wine with food, and enjoy! — 7 months ago
Still fresh! Rich. Highly balanced with fruitiness like citrus and acidity. Long finish. Good match with creamy or fat seafood. It would be interested in keeping for more years. 2010 @, Fruit, 240424 — 16 days ago

Love LC19. It’s perfect today flaunting deep, powerful layers of ripe orchard fruit with smoky minerals, toasted hazelnuts and exotic spices. The palate is structured and concentrated with a satiny texture and vibrant energy that give way to a long saline and mineral laced finale. Pinot Meunier from the master, it just can’t be matched and this is the best release since LC13 IMO. I’ve heard LC19 imports to the west coast specifically are often mousy, but luckily I’ve never experienced that here on the east coast. — a day ago
