Le Clocher d'Amélie Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Doing the typical “Two sides of the Loire” comparative tasting.
Muted on the nose with shy green grass & nettle + starts showing a very interesting waxy note after some time. More vivid on the palate, though still defined rather by its acidic structure than fruit. Ripe gooseberries, green apples and the grass again. Finishes off with an austere flinty, slightly steely note.
Not bad but quite far from what Sancerre is capable of.

Cuvée Les Caillottes Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Pale lemon color.
Aromas of lemon, toast.
Dry. Flavors of toast, lemon, custard. Like a lemon tart or lemon custard. Some minerality. Very good, but atypical for Sancerre.

Vieilles Vignes Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Last had this about a year ago, and it hasn’t evolved much— which is not a bad thing since it was really good back then. Gooseberry, lime juice, crushed rock dust on the nose. Loads of flavor: a big hit of crisp, tongue-tingling ripe fruit up front, then zingy acids and stoney minerality kick in. Exemplary Sancerre. — 8 months ago

La Côte de Bué Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Nice Sancerre inviting scents of grapefruit and mint, unfortunately lacking a bit of complexity, acidity and length to bring it to another level — 4 years ago

Santenay-Commes 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2013

Needed 2 hours to open up. Raspberry, cranberry fruit. Tart. Kind of deep pitched for a Burgundy. Not much in the way of tannins. Others on Cellartracker called this delicate. This bottle wasn’t at least compared to the 2013 Jean Tardy Gevrey Chambertin Champerrier I posted on just prior to this one. — 2 years ago
