Very expressive Pinot nose with some whole clusters, the palate is gorgeous, lots of ripe delicious typical 2015 fruit, nice acidity and some polish tannins, great texture and balance, superb bottle.

Les Charmes Morgon Gamay 2017

McCarthy & Schiering, $20

Slight smokiness and very sour cherry on the nose. Slightly tart cherry and touch of smoke with lots of spice. Finishes with a soft spring water minerality on the finish that I've come to recognize often in Beaujolais, along with both an anise-like sweetness and a harsh bitter note resembling citrus peel, kind of like how an amaro is both sweet and bitter. Also had much higher tannins and longer finish than I've seen in the couple Gamays I've had. Loved the complexity and had everything I love in a Beaujolais, but that bitter citrus peel was a little distracting for me, still excellent. Also random observation: This wine had the most sediment I've ever seen.

Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2005

Five single-vineyard CA Pinots vs 5 Burgs: Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanee + three 1er Crus Beaunes. All 2005s. Rob Jensen, owner, and Sue Ryan, lead wine educator at Testarossa joined our group for the tasting. This was Siduri’s Gary’s vineyard Pinot, which I thought rivaled the Testarossa — 15 days ago

Domaine Sainte Claire Chablis Chardonnay 2019

Refreshing, full bodied white. Went well with chicken and a wine reduction sauce. Good nose and rests well on the back of the tongue. — 14 days ago
