Very dark ruby coloration. Hint of brown. On the nose, plum, Dark cherry, currants and forest floor. On the palate, full bodied and rich in the mouth, cherry, currants and a strong and pervasive presence of anise that goes long into the finish. Tannins are present and strong but do not inhibit a medium long finish of anise. — 17 hours ago
Medium–light bodied, earthy, with a nice acidity and bracing tannins. Brambly dried violets, black olive, blackberry, prune, some black pepper. First try of Casavecchia and I’m intrigued. From Flatiron Wines. 07/11/21 — 12 days ago
Layered with acidity and smooth finish. Hint of stone fruit. Wonderful wine — 6 days ago
Cherries with balsamic and herbs on the nose.
This wine is soooo well developed.
Roasted cherries and berries, worn leather and violets with truffles minerals and earthiness.
This wine was aged 41 months in botti before release.
This was a special night that required a special wine.

Piedmont meets Pomerol. What a nose. Epic. This is epic a f. Plums, spice, minerals and earth. Perfumed, deep and penetrating. Just amazing. This is elite. Blind you think 2nd tier Pomerol. Has that raspberry spice cake thing in elite Pomerol. Cuban pipe tobacco. Wow. Did not expect this. So bright. So lifted. This is the best Piedmontese Bordeaux blend nose I’ve ever smelled. Sorry Darmagi. Huge concentration and depth. Big plummy and ripe fruit and mouth coating tannins. So long. Exquisite structure and velvety sweet tannins. Black plum and black cherry fruit. Long and structured. Really long. — a month ago

Nose is so fresh. Hand crushed cherry juice. As it opens almost a bit meaty. Gets more dense. Intense spice. Blackberries. Some elegant library book. Totally different wine from 0-30 minutes. Quite fascinating. Actually amazing. A quirky but delicious wine. Sexy librarian.
Palate is similar. Fresh cherry juice. A hint of cherry licorice. Very mineral. Silky tanins.
As this opens intense cherry licorice. Better deliciousness. High level deliciousness. Almost sticks to the lips. Intense density. Darker fruits. Really clings to the lips and palate. Grabs the palate on the swallow.
This vintage is more a wine of hedonism than one of elegance (which is the house style) even though for a hedonistic wine it is quite elegant. As this opens it becomes very very intense. Spice. Concentrated fruit. Cinnamon. Clove.
Much more a more typical gattinara as opposed to a dorelli wine that was made in gattinara.
It’s great to see what a great winemaker like Dorelli does over vintages with different characters. The imprint of the elegant house style is always there but the vintage is there as well.
