Little Wine #7 Syrah

Similar notes to 48 weeks ago. Raspberry and blackberry - red and black fruits. A blend of 4 vintages but 43% 2017. Also 2016, 2015 and 2012 - all good vintages in the Barossa. A note of dried herbs. As always the feature is the succulent supple silky tannins from the old vine fruit. Interestingly Fraser likes to enjoy the “Little Wines” in a year or two after release. — 16 days ago

Grange South Australia Shiraz 2004

Wonderful weight and meatiness. Needed plenty of time to unwind but such a nice ride once it did. Subtle spice with rich cab notes. Decanted and consumed over two nights. Was just as good if not better Day 2. — 9 days ago

Great nose, black Forrest fruits, spice and leather. More of the same on the palate but with a very present but super fine soft tannin.
Awesome value, loved it.

The Boxer Shiraz 2020

Great restaurant value. Dark purple color. Massive depth with vanilla, spice, and amaranth. Long finish. Easy drinking even at 16% OH. Perfect wine for tonight @ 60+ degrees on a June night in Lake Placid! — 3 days ago

Clarendon Hills

Astralis Syrah 1997

Pure and powerful but completely resolved. There’s a core of iron tinged red meat and dark blue fruit but hints of black tea, white pepper and spice. As much Burg as Côté-Rotie at this point, completely ready to go. — 6 days ago

Bin 389 South Australia Cabernet Shiraz 2016

Had this at Bern’s Steak house. Often referred to as “Baby Grange,” ‘16: blend of 51% Cab Sauv & 49% Shiraz, aged 12 months in American oak, partly in previous-vintage Grange casks. Dark Ruby with aromas of ripe black fruits, sweet and complex spice. On palate juicy blackberry flavors with notes of tobacco, cacao and toasty spices. Well balanced with acidity, fine ripe tannins, long finish ending with smoky spice, fruit & well integrated with oak, went well with my 19oz Strip Steak! — 20 days ago

Hoffmann Dallwitz Syrah 2016

Purple!
This is extremely youthful. Ink, mint, resin, blackberries, black pepper and kalamata olives.
Lots of tannines, which are perfectly ripe and soft, Elegant and powerful, this is so promising, but needs at least three more years in the dungeon. Or 24hr in the decanter.
Truly beautiful, pure and graceful.

Cellar Release Pinot Noir 2015

Rich and luscious. Red ripe fruits. Certainly a stalky whole bunch element. A note of ginger. A raspberry note on the palate. A very easy to like crowd pleasing Pinot Noir - high quality Coal River fruit and winemaking. — 6 days ago

Bass Phillip

The Estate Pinot Noir 2019

The first of 6 of the annual Bass Phillip order. A slight cloudiness to the mid crimson colour which is typical as the wines are often unfiltered. A very Bass Phillip nose and palate of dried cherry, spice and forest floor. A light to medium weight palate. I have been drinking BP Pinots for many years now and this is very much the house style. To be critical the price has crept up under the new ownership and is now just under $100 for the Estate. The following night a note of raspberry. — 9 days ago
