Bin 2 South Australia Shiraz Mourvedre 2012

Even though I’m a life long buyer and drinker of Penfolds I’ve had very little experience with Bin 2 which is a Shiraz Mourvèdre blend (89%/11%). Dusty Black cherry notes with a little raspberry. These aromatics carry through to the medium plus bodied palate finishing with grainy tannins. A little astringency at the end, probably because of its youth (in Penfolds terms at least). Could easily go for another 5 years but nothing wrong with drinking one now. — 20 days ago

Canberra District Viognier 2014

See previous notes. My last bottle of what was an excellent Viognier. This was mid Lemon in colour. Notes of pear and honeysuckle. Palate whilst being delicate has great texture with real persistence. Isn’t as unctuous or with the concentration of a Condrieu but wonderful nonetheless. Drinking at its peak. — 11 days ago

Grange Hermitage Bin 95 Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Blend of 98% Shiraz and 2% Cab Sauv, deep Ruby with aromas of rich fruit, cedar, sweet herbs and pepper notes, for this difficult vintage. On my the palate fruit flavors of expressive raspberry and cherry with notes of vanilla, cedar, licorice and herbal tea. Fine grippy tannins, long finish ending with fruit, cedar and spice. Nice! Tasting Sample! — 4 hours ago

Cobaw Ridge

Il Pinko Syrah 2019

Very good Rose with unusual pomegranate, watermelon rind, grapefruit spectrum challenged by a good freshness and minerality.

RWT Bit 798 Barossa Valley Shiraz 2016

Okay! Father’s Day. Get the bbq out. Cook some ribs!! What better than a cheek tantalizing, jammy, Shiraz from Barroso Valley!! This one took some time to come together. Rich extracts of dark cherry, figs and mulberry. Unfortunately the vanilla, probably from the American oak, was overwhelming and threw the wine off balance. It took nearly three hours before it settled down and became fully integrated. At that time I was able to pick of the fine and potent tannins that gave it depth and character. — a day ago

Grange South Australia Shiraz 1999

Deep purple hue, I think we caught this bottle too young despite me owning since release. — 11 days ago

Grange Bin 95 Shiraz 2004

Nice balance and grip. It seemed a bit more muted but had undeniable weight and substance. Excellent pairing with pepper crusted filet mignon. Cork completely fell apart on me but the wine survived! — 17 days ago
