Gavarini Chiniera Barolo Nebbiolo 2009

Finally had to try one of these. Was not disappointed. Leather, cherry, little bit of tar. Very good — a month ago

Nose is awesome. Elegant old school.

A hint of age. Sweet wood.

Dolcetto d'Alba 2016

One of the better Dolcettos out there. Very serious winemaking, good food companion. The tannins were harsh a few years ago but have toned it down now. — 2 months ago

I was surprised at how open this was. Lovely dark Asili fruit. A little short though, at present. — 2 months ago

Barolo Nebbiolo 2008

Ruby red with a tawny rim. Aromas of menthol, mint, black and red fruits with a touch of licorice and tar. Similar notes on the medium to full bodied palate. Finishes with chalky, fine, drying tannins. This producer was one of the early adopters of using small French oak Barriques. This influence was noticeable 4 years ago in my first Delectable note on this wine but now it has all come together and in balance. Looking forward to trying the 3rd one in 2 or 3 years time. — 2 months ago

Paolina Barbera d'Alba Barbera 2015

Pop and pour. Lovely barbera. Nose shows mulberry leaf, plum, black raspberry. On the palate: excellent acidity, pomegranate, black raspberry, dried leaves, and just so juicy. No real tannin visible on the juicy finish. Yum. — 3 months ago
