Domaine Guillemard Clerc

Château Clerc Milon

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

David T

Showing all the aspects of a grand Bordeaux vintage.

It’s velvet, candied floral, ruby; creamed raspberries, blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, dry stone, limestone & sandstone, black rich earth, tobacco, used leather, tomato with leaf, elegance defined, well knitted & balanced, dark spice, dry top soil, underbrush, candied florals of; fresh, withering, dark, red, purple and touch of blue flowers. Round acidity for days with a long, ripe, velvet finish persistent that falls into a dry minerality on the long set.

Photos of; us spending time learning in the vineyard with our friend & Clerc Milon Winemaker-Jean, Sofia picking the 2012 Chateau Mouton Rothschild Merlot, same day dinner at Chateau Mouton Rothschild sitting with their CEO who was retiring & subsequently ended up running Montrose. Bottom pic is Chateau Clerc Milon. We enjoyed 75 Mouton out of 6L with dinner. The vintage Andy Warhol designed the label. Each artist is given two cases of Mouton as payment if their artwork is selected for their bottle.

Our hands are all over the 2012 Chateau Mouton Rothschild & Clerc Milon wines. So, you probably don’t want to buy those or sell them on an auction site if you own. 😜

Baronne Philippine de Rothschild

Pastourelle de Clerc Milon Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

I guess I'm comparing age versus pedigree here within the Clerc Milon family.

It opened wrapped up in a knot. Off putting initial aromas. Deep dark just like it's rich younger sibling. Just beginning to brown at the rim. 30 min in it's starting to relax...

Soil. Licorice and something savory on the nose-- almost like a chicken stock. Alcohol infused chocolate on the palate with more earthiness. After 2 hours, I believe there may be more room to open or maybe it's wishful thinking because it all ends rather muddy and bitter..

In the end, I believe this wine is past peak. Probably by a couple or 3 years. It's still interesting and would pair ok with big red meats, but don't count on it too much longer. It's not a stand up 2010.

Les Enseignères Puligny-Montrachet Chardonnay 2017

Wonderful wine! So smooth it’s dangerous. Once it warmed up you could really catch scents of grass and apricot. Amazing wine :) — a year ago

Very nice white. Not like US Chardonnay at all. The terroir shows through. I’m going back for more! — 2 years ago

@Tom Casagrande me neither, it seems to be... Pinot gris! Lovely experience.

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Just tasting this after being opened on June 21st, 2019. Supposedly the cellars will eventually be renovated. South facing vineyards. Less fresh and less precise than Clerc Milon 2016. — a year ago
