Domaine De La Mordorée

M. Chapoutier

"La Mordorée" Côte-Rôtie Syrah 1989

Superb wine, elegant and refined with silky tannins, good balance and such a great texture. Doesn’t look his age. 92-93

Très beau vin qui ne fait pas son âge, une belle texture pour ce vin équilibré malgré des tannins soyeux et fondus.

La Reine des Bois Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2000

Mag,
Needs air even after 20 years. Can’t wait to taste the rest tomorrow👌

The flagship wine remains Mordoree's remarkable Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de la Reine des Bois. The 2000 boasts an inky purple color in addition to a ravishing perfume of wood smoke, creme de cassis, blueberries, plums, figs, and a hint of graphite. Full-bodied, with sweet tannin, a layered richness, staggering ripeness, and a finish that lasts for nearly 50 seconds, this monumental Chateauneuf du Pape continues the unbelievable succession of superstar wines that began in 1998. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2020.

Cuvée La Reine des Bois Tavel Rosé Blend 2019

Perhaps our all-time favorite Tavel. I'd buy more of this except for the price tag! Alternatively, the 2018 standard release Tavel from Mordoree is so similar and costs $10 less, and is still drinking well in 2020. — 10 months ago

La Dame Rousse Lirac Red Rhone Blend 2010

Laid a few of these down for a few years. Served with grilled pork loon. Still big and tannic. Tannins a bit out of balance with body, but a good wine for grilled meats. Will try with some of my smoked andouille. — 9 months ago

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2009

So dense, concentrated and flavourful, just entering maturity. Looking forward to the next bottle. In a few years. — a year ago

Domaine de la Mordorée

La Reine des Bois Lirac Red Rhone Blend 2019

Solid. Strawberries, musk and watermelon on the nose as well as very prominent dusty minerals. Reminiscent of the best bandol rosés though maybe a touch less expressive. Loaded with minerals and fruit.. opened up on day 3. Masses of bitter granitic minerals. There’s a sweetness on the finish. — 4 months ago
