Les Perrières Pommard Pinot Noir 2020

Lyle Fass
9.5

@Delectable Wine This is Pommard Les Noizons. Thanks!

What a deep stoney nose. Ripe black cherry fruit and a compote aspect. Dense, brooding and layered. Incredibly vivid fruit. A saline aspect as well. Gorgeous. Palate is stunning. Bright but dark fruits and amazing freshness. So sappy and pure and elegant. The elegance in the kid’s wines has really ramped up. Beautiful wispy yet velvety and sweet tannins but not too sweet. A raspberry coulis aspect and lip smacking freshness on the finish. I love the 2020’s here. Terrific inner mouth aromas and insane opulence. So juicy and energetic. The tannins are super high quality and the fruit is dark and opulent but just so perfect. Not overdone and owns its darkness and opulence. Silky and sweet and so long. A brilliant bottle. The fruit never quits on the finish even as it takes a detour for the minerals to express themselves. Almost a 9.6.

This has come alive after many hours. Nose is more integrated. Much more. Gorgeous raspberry and cherry. Wow. Palate is insanely juicy and fruit is more red. Sappy as all can be. Brilliant.

Château Moulin Saint-Georges

Saint Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Wow what an amazing buy. Complex nose, classic but complex. Right bank stunner. Cedar, truffle, cassis, olive tapenade , slate, salt, with even an iron complement. Quite structured with amazing tannins still rounding out the fruit. Dark berries, blueberries , ripe blackberries, great tannins to give this wine the structure it needs to keep on aging. Great now, would love to try again in another 5 years. 14.5% — 5 days ago

Les Trois Terroirs Pommard Pinot Noir 2020

9.4

Deep, rich and ripe nose of loads of stones, black cherry, dark roses, violets, earth, bittersweet cocoa, and that classic Pommard stoniness. Ultra deep. Almost like a compote on the nose. Palate is dark, juicy, sleek and slippery. Super concentrated but never heavy. Terrific, delicious fruit that is backed up by superb stoniness. Exceptional purity and wonderful freshness and balance. This is a brooding bottle of wine that really balances power, ripeness and grace. This needs some air and i’ll be back but truly a phenomenal wine. — 8 days ago

La Chatenière Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Chardonnay 2016

Le style de la maison est là avec cette minéralité et pierre à fusils, du fruit blanc aussi, intense en bouche mais avec de la finesse, une belle longueur, très très belle réussite. 92-93

Very PYCM in style, gun powder, minerality, salinity, gorgeous white fruit also, intense and with a nice rich texture but the acidity balances it out, very very good.

Cuvee William Pommard Pinot Noir 2020

9.4

My man killed 2020. Slayed it like it was a dragon. Super nose of stone, dark red cherries, lovely earth character, some tweed jacket and all of this is presented like refined silk or velvet. Man what strides William has taken. Wow that is just the sexiest, velvet, sweet fruited Pommard one can imagine! This is so fresh, yet also lush and succulent. Wow. What texture and refinement. Williams’s tannin quality has improved so much from 19 to 20. They are so silky, sweet and finely knit. Nose starting to get more red cherries and some nice florals. He nailed this vintage. So energetic and juicy. Just so good. As it airs I’ll be back. Such freshness with air and it gets tangy. Terrific, invigorating Pommard. After 3 hours nose has dark florals. Palate is now elegant and has such deep echoing fruit. So rich yet so ethereal. Masterful. — 15 days ago

Château Phélan Ségur

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Over the weekend I opened the 2018 Château Pgélan Ségur Saint-Estèphe Left Bank Bordeaux. A blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon and 43% Merlot.

On the nose was very expressive and floral, black cherry, blackberry, fig, black currant, licorice, creamy chocolate, iron, violets and earth.

On the palate was black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, licorice, spice, minerality, light oak, herbal and dark rich earth.

This is a full bodied wine wiyg smooth fresh mouthfeel mouthwatering medium + acidity and medium + grainy tannins that leaves you with a long black fruit earthy graphite finish. This is a beautiful wine and worth the price. You can drink now or cellar for a later date. Have a wonderful week ahead and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷

Les Champs-Grillés Saint Amour Gamay 2018

Nose is lively, with equal parts fruit and cracked stone. The fruits are bright and ripe and tangy. Also a bit of spice. In the mouth, the zingy and assertive fruit is still there, but it’s in a surprisingly structured package. Bone dry, good acids, even some chalky tannins in the back half of the palate. Atypically for a Saint Amour, it seems like it could improve for another couple of years.

Domaine des Amethystes Chiroubles Gamay 2018

A racy Chiroubles. Charming purple dress, medium concentration and beautiful brilliance. Superb peppery nose, airy between bright floral bouquet (Rose, Iris) and vibrant fruits (cherry and raspberry). Concentration, as expected on solar vintages. The mouth is fresh, tense, with few tannins but beautiful chew. Great drinkability, served refreshed (12/14 degrees) and airy, it's a dangerous drink!
