Clos Saint Fiacre

Château Léoville Poyferré

Saint Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Ripest red cherry and red rose aromatic hybrid. Cherry and strawberry blossoms. Herbaceous basil and tarragon sweetness awash in warm plum and baked currants. Flowering elms with wet black bark. Finally, oak and smoke. Perfect integration on the palate. Ready now but also for the foreseeable. Sweet raspberry and blackberry flash and recede to an obverse tart cherry with incredible indelible, satisfying depth. Sweet tobacco is outlined by Saigon cinnamon, clove, allspice and a strangely sweet pepper dichotomy. Really a perfect wine in every way. Smoke and graphite find a way to bow into the shimmery finish with finesse.

Château Gruaud Larose

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Not used to drinking such a young GL. This was mostly primary that needs another 20 yrs. — 9 days ago

Château Gloria

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

NOSE: smells like really good wine. Clear, juicy, berry compote, concentrated cassis - pencil box, mild lavender, exotic spices, minerals.

TASTE: wow, elegant and tasty - like the nose but more. At once fruity and approachable - but dense, iron and graphite, lavender, exotic spices, leather, flint, juicy blackberry and cassis, tar, tannins taste like bitter herbs and wood ash. Tastes “purple.” I would really love to try this with more age on it. Better than most other wines I’ve tried. 94.

Château Pavie

Saint-Èmilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

2 hour decant(tons and tons of sediment). A remarkable dark garnet with little bricking. On the nose: showy perfumed nose of dark plum, clove, soy sauce, funky earth, sweet spice. Taste: smooth, mouthcoating, concentrated, rich wine with ripe plum, cassis, leather, bitter chocolate, and a long dry spicy earthy finish...ripe fruit and a seriously extracted style at 14.5% alc. — a day ago

Château Beychevelle

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1986

Garnet with terracotta rim . Quite a lot of sous bois , mostly red fruits , earthy tobacco. Nicely rounded on the palate , touch of cassis , red currant sous bois, herbal touches on the finish . Nice refreshing acidity , slightly drying tannin , but still well balanced. Very enjoyable and in a perfect spot in this format, now and over the next 5 years . — 20 days ago

Château Calon-Ségur

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

Less forward than the last bottle about 18 mos back. Still lovely. Cedary, minerally, mature St. Estephe. Red fruit very much an echo now. Excellent length and decades left if well stored. To seek out in magnum. — 9 days ago

Château Ausone

Saint Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 1993

Always a treat to drink an Ausone, off vintage that is drinking well showing berry, plum fruit, savory spice, menthol, with notes of earth, rust, iron & tobacco. — 8 days ago

Château Cos d'Estournel

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2003

45 min decant(lots of sediment). A majestic dark crimson with some bricking. On the nose: Subdued nose for this bottle unlike prior reviews. Taste: nice creamy, fresh wine with plum, cedar, earth, that COS spice, pencil lead. Not as good as previous bottles...bottle variation or in its slow decline? Got more bottles so we will see next year. — 22 days ago

2003 Pontet Canet I opened a month ago was a total revelation for the vintage. Totally superb and not going anywhere.

@Shay A agree. Have had several producers including this one and they have been very good...hoping this one is just bottle variation.
